Amityville A.I. DVD Review (SRS Cinema)

Amityville AI is a 2024 independent horror film shot, edited, and directed by Matt Jaissle (The Necro Files franchise, Amityville VR, Legion of the Night, Anti-hero, Apocalypse Bigfoot, and Back from Hell). It was produced by Ron Bonk (Amityville VR, Amityville Backrooms, Amityville Ripper, Amityville Turkey Day, Amityville Bigfoot, Amityville Shark House, Amityville Karen, Amityville Death Toilet, and Amityville Thanksgiving). Stuart Birdsall (played by: William Childress from American Driller Killer, Roadkill, Reanimated, and Love Amongst Friends) has moved into a new place to complete his development for his groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence program known as VIC 3000. The main problem is that this new house is actually possessed, and now so is his new impressive PROGRAM. What began as a technology designed to make our lives easier has transformed into a SATANIC FORCE hell-bent on making our deaths GHASTLIER!!!! Amityville AI is another different take when it comes to the highly popular Amityville sub-genre. It’s the horror franchise that never stops. This entry focuses on modern technology and what could happen if it got mixed up in this evil universe. I really enjoyed Matt Jaissle’s Necro Files series so this grabbed my attention right away when I seen that he was the director for this low budget production. Amityville AI takes it’s time so it drags a little bit but it does have some decent moments every once in awhile. I think it would have worked better as a short because it had so much more potential to it. Lead actor William Childress is just okay as Stuart Birdsall. That’s one of the biggest flaws for this to be honest. The supporting cast includes John R. Walker (Amityville Backpack), Mark Schaefer (Amityville Bigfoot), Rudy Ledbetter (Amityville Ripper), Christopher Korek (Amityville Turkey Day), Jeffrey Hylton (Amityville VR), Justin W. Fox (Amityville Ripper), Bill Dawson (Amityville Backrooms), and Bradford Blair (Amityville VR). There’s lots of familiar faces when it comes to actors in previous Amityville movies so that’s kinda cool. They do use their budget wisely when it comes to locations, production design, and special fx so that’s one of the best aspects about Amityville AI. It has some solid gore when it actually shows up on the screen. It’s not the worst Amityville feature that I’ve seen or covered so if you appreciate the Amityville universe then it’s definitely worth checking out at least once. I like how SRS Cinema goes with the old school approach for their newer projects. They always have attention grabbing artwork and concepts. I noticed Matt Jaissle and the same creative team completed Amityville VR which sounds like a sequel to this, hopefully that one is an improvement over this. This home video release from SRS Cinema has a few special features on the DVD. It has an “Audio Commentary” with director Matt Jaissle. He chats about the development of the project. He points out his cameo. He talks about changing it up compared to all the original source material. He brings up the cast, he discusses some of the characters in this. It’s a scene specific track for the most part. It’s loaded with information and some interesting behind the scenes stories. It has a “Trailer” for this. It has a huge variety of SRS Cinema “Trailers” which includes some more Amityville stuff. It’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
