Werewolf Game Blu Ray Review (The Horror Collective)

Werewolf Game is a 2025 horror film executive produced / written / directed by Cara Claymore (Asher) and Jackie Payne (Waves Full of Bliss, Asher, and Heroic). It was produced by Rob Margolies (Moments of Youth, The Dummy Detective, Bobcat Moretti, Immortal, All You Can Eat, and Never Heard). It’s based on Dimitry Davidoff’s “Werewolf” card game. Twelve strangers which includes Bill (played by: Robert Picardo from The Howling, Star Trek franchise, and Gremlins 2: The New Batch), Demi (played by: Bai Ling from The Crow, Crank: High Voltage, and Three… Extremes), Monika (played by: Lydia Hearst from Cabin Fever 3, The Haunting of Sharon Tate, and Aileen Wuornos: American Boogeywoman), Pepper (played by: Teala Dunn from DC Super Hero Girls), Natalie (played by: Tabitha Jane from The Santa Clause 3), Seth (played by: André Tempfer from Criminal Minds), Raymond (played by: Tim Realbuto from The Sopranos), Matt (played by: Peter McManus from Law and Order: Organized Crime), Chris (played by: Leon Andrew Joseph from Primal), Suzie (played by: Cara Claymore from Asher), Emmitt (played by: Ethan Ingle from Crime 101), and Zak (played by: James Crittenden from Babylon) are forced to play a deadly game hosted by The Judge (played by: Tony Todd from the Candyman franchise, Final Destination franchise, The Crow, Night of the Living Dead, The Rock, and Platoon). They are put against each other to test who really wants to be alive, only the strong survives here. They must all vote on whom to murder next while werewolves kill nightly!!!! Werewolf Game is based on the popular card game. Director Cara Claymore adapted it into an independent horror production. I love the concept of this. It has such a simple setup and basically one main location but it just works for it’s tension filled presentation. Horror Icon Tony Todd really shines as the charismatic Judge. He’s the demented host that puts these unlucky participants into a fatal game that never ends well. They are basically forced to go against each other to actually survive the Werewolf Game. He’s mainly under a mask for the most part in this but no one has that distinct voice so the viewer knows exactly who’s creating all of the lunacy here. Veterans Robert Picardo as Bill and Bai Ling as Demi are the two biggest names when it comes to the contestants for this sadistic game until the death. Their presence definitely elevates this lower budget effort. The other main characters included Lydia Hearst, Teala Dunn, Cara Claymore, Tabitha Jane, André Tempfer, James Crittenden, Tim Realbuto, Peter McManus, Leon Andrew Joseph, and Ethan Ingle during this crazy scenario. Some of the cast are more of a glorified cameo because they don’t last long. The rest of the supporting cast includes Tyler Gattoni (The Devil in the Doorway), Chaim Rochester, Chris Burke, Joe Wells, and Liefia Ingalls (Lost Treasure of the Valley). This capitalizes on the popular torture porn sub-genre that’s spawned the Saw and Hostel franchises. It has strangers fighting and showing their appreciation for their own lives during this bizarre experiment. Werewolf Game is psychological, it thrives on it’s suspense and thrills as it all fully develops. It doesn’t back away from it’s intense violence and gore but it’s more focused on the actual competition. I had low expectations going into this and it was actually much better than I thought it would be. My biggest issue is the ending, I didn’t like it at all and it kinda killed it’s momentum. Besides that, it’s definitely better than its current reputation plus it has a few familiar faces in it. It’s steaming on Tubi, Plex, and Pluto TV at the moment if you are curious about it. It’s worth checking out especially if you are into this sub-genre!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from The Horror Collective! This 1080p (1.78:1) unrated transfer looks bigger than it’s actual budget which is always good when it comes to smaller productions. It has quality cinematography, impressive production design, and solid special fx for the sharper visuals. It has an English: Dolby Digital 2.0 track on the disc. It’s a type of movie that has lots of conversations so that’s what mainly pops out for the audio but during the game and the score add an major increase to it. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the mayhem is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R.
