You Cannot Kill David Arquette DVD Review (Super LTD)
You Cannot Kill David Arquette is a 2020 independent wrestling documentary written/produced/shot/directed by David Darg (Electric Kingdom) and Price James (Action Man: Battlefield Casualties). Branded as the most hated man in wrestling after winning a highly controversial WCW World Heavyweight Championship in 2000, actor David Arquette (Scream franchise, Ready to Rumble, Eight Legged Freaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Airheads, Beautiful Girls, and Ravenous) attempts a rocky return to the sport that stalled his promising Hollywood career. Dangerously determined to redeem his reputation and reclaim his self-respect.

He clashes with his family plus several other professional wrestlers which includes Christina McLarty Arquette (12 Hour Shift), Coco Arquette (UNICEF: Imagine), Charlie Arquette, Gus Arquette, Patricia Arquette (True Romance), Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), Richmond Arquette (Halloween), Courteney Cox (Friends), Diamond Dallas Page (The Devil’s Rejects), Brian Knobbs (WWF), Ric Flair (WCW), Nick Gage (CZW), Ken Anderson (WWE), and Jerry Lawler (USWA and Man on the Moon) on his deadly road to redemption. Arquette will stop at nothing to earn his place in professional wrestling as he goes through the ranks from his rusty return at Championship Wrestling from Hollywood to Backyard wrestling to Underground Lucha Libre to Death matches to GCW to Brian Knobbs Legends of Wrestling event!!!!

I was a huge professional wrestling fan back in the day and I obviously love movies so this was a nice hybrid for me to cover for review. You Cannot Kill David Arquette has a little bit of everything in it. Everything from violence, wrestling, drama, comedy, redemption, and lots of heart. I’ve seen lots of wrestling documentaries over the years but this one was stood out from most of them. Known actor David Arquette won the biggest title off a gimmick and he’s been dealing with it ever since. They chat about how he was typecast in Hollywood after being successful in the Scream franchise. He was no longer getting offered those serious and gritty roles from the past after that. The wrestling stuff didn’t help either which has caused him to struggle to keep active in the acting community. He is brutality honest in this film, he says he has been turned down non stop for the last 10 years for bigger projects but he never stops him from trying again.

Personally, I think he should try to direct more because his 2006 slasher The Tripper was actually great back in the day. You Cannot Kill David Arquette shows a man so determined to prove to the world that he’s not a joke when it comes to the wrestling industry. It shows the actor putting himself through hell and so much pain to achieve this. You have to respect him after watching this. It’s very impressive how he trained and got himself into great shape to make his return to the squared circle. I am hoping he does the same thing in Hollywood now because he proves here he can do anything if he puts his mind to it. You Cannot Kill David Arquette is a fascinating behind the scenes look into becoming a professional wrestler. It doesn’t hold back during some of the matches and they are just as brutal as any horror flick to be real. You get to see all kinds of familiar and famous wrestlers from the past interact with the actor here, You get personal conversations and moments with his famous siblings plus ex-wife. You Cannot Kill David Arquette is for everyone and you don’t have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy it, think Rocky in the modern day independent wrestling circuit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Let’s talk about the DVD release from Super LTD! This (1.78:1) transfer looks better than expected for a lower budget documentary. The English 5.1 Surround Sound track has a nice boost to it during all the extreme wrestling moments here. All of the dialogue is crystal clear and the music is elevated. It has English subtitles. It has 5 different “Deleted Scenes” on the disc. I can see why they were cut from the final version but it’s still a nice bonus to have here. It’s currently streaming on HULU if you are interested. The DVD is available everywhere right now including on MovieZyng.com!!!!!

I’m not a huge wrestling fan but I absolutely loved this doc. The man is dedicated!
