Werewolf Castle Blu Ray Review (High Fliers Films)

Werewolf Castle is a 2021 independent horror film written, edited, produced, shot, and directed by Charlie Steeds (The Barge People, Deadman Apocalypse, An English Haunting, Death Ranch, A Werewolf in England, Lord of Wolves, Night Harvest, Snake Creek, and Escape from Cannibal Farm). It was executive produced by May Monteiro (Captain Hook: The Cursed Tides, Alice in Terrorland, The Krays: Gangsters Behind Bars, St. Patrick’s Day Massacre, A Werewolf in England, and Crown of Shadows) and Jeremy Rothwell (Skinned, Wrath of Dracula, Ship of the Damned, The Mummy: Resurrection, and Ripper’s Revenge). After a string of vicious killings and unknown disappearances. Thorfinn Garstang (played by: Peter Lofsgard from Vampire Virus, The Mummy, and Lord of Wolves) with Hamelin Wiltshire (played by: Tim Cartwright from A Werewolf in England and The Barge People), Percy (played by: Jake Watkins from Freeze, Mouse of Horrors, The Gardener, Cupid, Toothfairy 2, and Lord of Wolves), Osmund Blakewood (played by: Derek Nelson from Midnight Peepshow, The Jack in the Box Rises, I Am Rage, Werewolves of the Third Reich, A Werewolf in England, and Werewolf Cabal), and Inga (played by: Megan Tremethick from Dragon Knight, Crown of Shadows, In the Grip of Terror, and The Vance Institute) go to the protect the rest of the villagers to investigate strange events at a nearby Gothic castle. They are joined by some brave locals as they uncover a horde of supernatural creatures. They must all go into a fierce battle for survival!!!! I’ve reviewed a few Charlie Steeds productions so far that includes The Barge People and Escape from Cannibal Farm. The one thing that I really appreciate about him is that he always does something completely different for each horror feature. He tries to make the best out of a small budget each project. The script is a mix between medieval knights and blood thirsty werewolves. I honestly never thought I’d see this combination in a full length movie but here we are. It’s more of a group effort rather than just one main lead. Peter Lofsgard, Tim Cartwright, Jake Watkins, Derek Nelson, and Megan Tremethick all have solid chemistry together. They are the unlucky team that has to see what’s really happening at the mysterious castle. Most of them are considered the best warriors around so it’s best chance for the community. The rest of the supporting cast includes Jay O’Connell (The Legend of Jack and Jill), Greg Draven (Justice League), James Swanton (Apartment 7A), Reece Connolly (A Werewolf in England), Rick Carter (Retribution), Ricardo Freitas (Cinderella’s Revenge), Emma Spurgin Hussey (An English Haunting), Jamie Jellard (The Haunting of the Tower of London), Corey Jones, and David Simcock. Charlie Steeds likes to use his regulars and familiar faces with most of his films so they all know exactly what they are getting into with him behind the camera. It had a good amount of violence and gore. The special fx were a little cheaper than I used to seeing from him but they do the job for what’s needed. I’ve definitely seen worse werewolves before so they were decent for the most part. Werewolf Castle keeps the action and horror combination even to make it a little more interesting than your typical low budget entry. Werewolf Castle is way more entertaining than I thought it would be. It keeps itself fun with all it’s wacky and weird characters. It’s currently streaming on Fawesome, Tubi, and Plex if you want to give it a shot. I think this one might be best enjoyed with a group of friends and large amounts of alcohol!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from High Fliers Films! This 1060p (2.35:1) unrated transfer looks bigger than it’s actual budget. The castle, production design, and locations stand out the most here. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. Werewolf Castle has plenty of action and violence so it sounds great. All of the dialogue is very clean, the battle is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. This Blu Ray is made on demand & it’s a BD-R but at it’s highest quality. This release is available at most online locations including MovieZying.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
