Intinction Blu Ray Review (Astronomic Studios)

Intinction is a 2022 horror short written, produced, edited, and directed by Bobby Canipe Jr (Grandma, Woke, Nundead, Karate Ghost, Night Whispers, and Amityville Ripper). When a group of college friends set out for a night of fun. They accidentally step into a chilling nightmare in Intinction. Mark (played by: Blair Hoyle from 13 Slays Till X-Mas), Scott (played by: Hunter Touboulie), Roxie (played by: Whitney Willetts from Coffintooth), and Ralph (played by: Ryan Martel from Amityville Ripper) decide to check out a sinister old house on the edge of town. The house was abandoned after the locals discovered the horrifying truth about the infamous cannibal nuns and burned the church with them inside. Mark is desperate to impress his peers with a ghost story. As they spend more time inside, the friends find themselves trapped in the house. They are hunted by the demonic and flesh-hungry nuns craving their long-awaited feast!!!! Intinction is one of the better horror shorts that I’ve seen in awhile. You can see The Burning Moon and Night of the Demons influence in this one. I think 26 minutes is the right running time for this, it has a great flow to it. The cast for Intinction includes Blair Hoyle, Hunter Touboulie, Whitney Willetts, Ryan Martel, Jake Kopronica (Deathwoods), Holli Armstrong (Babe Beach), Cagney Larkin (Grandma), Erica Edwards (Woke), Ashley Parsons (Grandma), Nikki Croom (Woke), Jinx Hebda (Grief), and Scream Queen Morrigan Thompson (Debbie Does Demons, Crackcoon, Friday the 13th: The Awakening, Killer Campout Part II, and XXX-mas). The cannibalistic nuns looked great in Intinction, it’s a nice addition to the Nunsploitation sub-genre. The real highlight for this horror short is the special fx and gore. It delivers on everything that you would expect from something like this. It handles the present day and flashbacks well, they mix together perfect so nothing is thrown off when they collide. Intinction is one of my favorite projects from director Bobby Canipe Jr so far. I would like to see more shorts from him in the future. Let’s discuss the special features from Astronomic Studios! It has another brand new exclusive “Audio Commentary” with Steve Van Samson & Timothy Krikorian from the Retro Ridoctopus podcast. This track takes a more retro approach to the horror short. Every commentary here is completely different from each other. They are nice companion pieces, you get a little bit of everything with them. It’s a nice variety to switch up on when revisiting the film. It has the almost 30 minute “Recorded Off TV” cut of Intinction. This version has an old school vibe to it. It feels like you are watching a beat up VHS. It has the brand new exclusive almost 19 minute “Behind the Habit: The Nuns of Intinction with villains Erica Edwards and Morrigan Thompson. The demonic cannibal nuns share their experiences from the low budget production. They chat about their characters. They bring up some of their influences for their roles. Both actresses answer various questions about the demonic horror movie. It has the brand new exclusive almost 2 minute “Behind the Scenes Photo Montage”. It has the almost 6 minute Turris Ruina “Ritual of Golgotha” official music video. It has the “Blu Ray Release Trailer”. Intinction is loaded with so many extras. It’s awesome to see a horror short get this kind of treatment on home video. It comes with an inside insert that’s the poster for the movie. This is a M.O.D (BD-R) release.
