Bull Blu Ray Review (Shoreline Entertainment / Saban Films)

Bull is a 2021 revenge film written, produced, and directed by Paul Andrew Williams (The Cottage, Unfinished Song, Cherry Tree Lane, Broadchurch, White Dragon, A Confession, and London to Brighton). It was produced by Peter Bevan (Mandy, Spirit Halloween, I Kill Giants, The Numbers Station, Book of Blood, Erased, Hunter Hunter, and Night Hunter). The budget was £500,000 and it was shot in 18 days. It grossed $17,716 during it’s limited theatrical run. After a 10 year absence, Bull (played by: Neil Maskell from Kill List, Peaky Blinders, Pusher, Nil by Mouth, Basic Instinct 2, Rise of the Footsoldier, Wild Bill, Doghouse, Tony, The ABCs of Death, Piggy, and The Mummy) returns back home out of nowhere. He wants vengeance for his former criminal associates lead by the vicious Norm (played by: David Hayman from Sid and Nancy, The Jackal, Macbeth, Andor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, Murphy’s Law, Rob Roy, The Boxer, Walker, and Taboo) that double crossed him in the past. They don’t believe it’s really him until he starts taking them all out one by one with his gruesome methods. Will they finally pay for their mistakes???? Bull is a nasty independent British revenge feature from director Paul Andrew Williams. A former gangster comes back to his hometown after being gone for 10 years. His ex father-in-law that happens to be a crime boss and his dangerous crew thought Bull was dead until he hunts them all down. The script goes back and forth between flashbacks and present day. That’s probably only real flaw in this besides it’s awful ending, I personally think they do it too much which kinda messes with the flow of it. Character actor Neil Maskell is the lead in this low budget production as Bull. His character isn’t a hero or anything like that. He was just as bad as his associates back in the day but he has good reasons why he wants retribution. He’s ruthless and he shows off all his extreme talents when it comes to killing. Neil Maskell is top notch in Bull, he makes sure pay all his debts in blood. David Hayman is excellent as Norm. He’s the one with all the power until now. His whole world is falling apart and now he must face his worst nightmare that he created. David Hayman is slimy villain, he’s all about himself and he will sacrifice everyone to achieve his goals. The rest of the supporting cast includes David Nellist (Sherlock), Kevin Harvey (The Sandman), Mark Springer (Kingslayer), Henri Charles (EastEnders), Jake Davies (Ghost Stories), Kellie Shirley (EastEnders), Tamzin Outhwaite (Great Expectations), Lois Tallulah (Righteous Villains), Jason Milligan (A Confession), Laura McAlpine (Archie), Yassine Mkhichen (Virtual Death Match), Elizabeth Counsell (The Invitation), and Jay Simpson (Chernobyl). Bull never holds back, it’s loaded with gore and violence. It shows all the gruesome moments in graphic detail. It damn near goes into slasher territory, I wish more revenge features were like Bull. It knows exactly what it is and it delivers. I’ve never heard of this British crime and revenge hybrid until recently. It’s highly underrated and it flew under the radar for most. It’s a blast and it never lets us, the replay value is strong. Hopefully this new home video release gives it some more attention because it truly deserves it, RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Shoreline Entertainment and Saban Films! This 1080p (1.78:1) transfer looks impressive on blu ray. It cool to see this low budget revenge film get an upgrade on home video in the states. All of the brutality, gore, and gritty cinematography really shine for this one. It has a English: Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It’s a very explosive feature, the audio is great here. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the violence is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. Unfortunately, there’s no extras on this disc. This is a M.O.D (BD-R) home video release. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
