Where the Dead Go to Die Blu Ray Review (Mountain Oddities Home Video)

Where the Dead Go to Die is a 2012 animated horror film written, executive produced, composed, edited, visual fx, animation, and directed by Jimmy ScreamerClauz (Reality Bleed-Through, Clinical Sodomy, Mutwa, and When Black Birds Fly). A troubled group of children which includes Tommy (played by: Joshua Michael Greene from Tainted Milk, Blood Wings, and The Masks That the Monsters Wear) , Ralph (played by: Joey Smack from Liquid Memories, Tainted Milk, Duck! The Carbine High Massacre, and The Infamous Bondage Murders franchise), and Sophia (played by: Ruby Larocca from Sociopathia, Sickness, The Cemetery, The Lost, Bone Sickness, Porkchop, and When Black Birds Fly) that live on the same block are haunted by a dog named Labby (played by: Jimmy ScreamerClauz from I Am Nightmare, Heart String Marionette, 15 Till Midnight, and Late Fee) who brings them on surreal hell-rides between different dimensions and time periods!!!! Where the Dead Go to Die is basically a horror anthology, it combines the horror shorts “Tainted Milk”, “Liquid Memories”, and “The Masks That the Monsters Wear” into a single full length feature. They are all connected together so it works. Where the Dead Go to Die might be the most brutal and gruesome animation feature that I’ve ever seen. It’s loaded with all kinds of graphic violence and it never turns away from it all. Director Jimmy ScreamerClauz kept busy for the 6 months that he worked on Where the Dead Go to Die. He was responsible for so many different jobs on the ambitious production and he killed every single department for this. The visual style is on it’s own level and there’s nothing like it. The lead roles were voiced by not your typical choices when it comes to a project like this. It had some serious underground talent behind it. Scream Queen Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead, Night of the Demons, Savage Streets, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Nightmare Sisters, and Silent Night Deadly Night) shows up as Sophie’s mom here. I really like what she did with her character, she made it stand out more than it should. The rest of the cast includes Trent Haaga (Terror Firmer), Brandon Slagle (Dexter), Devanny Pinn (Piranha 3D), Emily Youcis (The Masks That the Monsters Wear), Chris Cleveland (Heroes), Victor Bonacore (Hunters), M. Dot Strange (We Are the Strange), Carlos Bonilla (Liquid Memories), Swift Treweeke (Clinical Sodomy), Edward Bonacore (The Masks That the Monsters Wear), Jennifer English (Late Fee), Violet Riot (The Masks That the Monsters Wear), Will Da Beast (Thrust), Ian Wright (The Masks That the Monsters Wear), Jay Longo (Liquid Memories), and Meatsock (Liquid Memories). Where the Dead Go to Die goes way past every single boundary and it breaks several taboos during it. I’ve never experienced any animation dealing with crazy stuff like this before. It has some shocking subplots and surprises here. It manages to keep getting darker as it goes on. It puts children in situations that should never happen on screen. It’s twisted nature will easily offend most normal viewers because it has no filter to it. Where the Dead Go to Die takes you on a haunting journey into hell. It deals with a family breaking up, the birth of a serial killer, innocence lost, exploitation, and just trying to survive full of scumbags. It displays pure evil in a whole new vision that no one will ever forget. It needs to be seen to be believed to be real. It’s a disaster that it’s hard to look away from. This definitely fits the extreme Unearthed Films brand that previously released it, it’s been out of print and rare for awhile now but MVD Entertainment Group has resurrected it again with Mountain Oddities Home Video, RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation and special features from MVD in association with Mountain Oddities Home Video! This 1080p (1.78:1) unrated, unedited, and uncensored transfer that appears to be similar to the previous 2012 Blu Ray home video release from Unearthed Films. Where the Dead Go to Die has it’s own unique visual style here and it looks great here even after all these years. It has a few different audio options which includes English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 tracks on the disc. The crazy soundtrack and score really shines when it comes to the audio for this. All of the dialogue is crisp, the horror is elevated, and the music has a huge boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has an “Audio Commentary” with director Jimmy ScreamerClauz. It has almost 3 minutes of “Deleted Scenes” with additional commentary with the director. It has the little over 75 minute “Quality Violent Cinema Podcast” interview with Jimmy ScreamerClauz from 2022. They show appreciation for his music and movies. Jimmy says he doesn’t really revisit his work once it’s done. They are shocked that it hasn’t blown up at this point. It has some similar stuff from the commentary and some updated information on everything since it’s original release. It has a variety of behind the scenes featurettes which includes the little over 4 minute “Kinect Mocap Madnes”, the almost 19 minute “Recording Liquid Memories” with Linnea Quigley, and the almost 5 minute “Emily and Violet”. All kinds of random and wild footage in this that’s related to this project. It has the little over 10 minute “Diamanda Hagan vs. The Scuzzies”. It has a reviewer goes over his connections to the director and other related projects. It has the 2019 almost 15 minute short film “The Scuzzies” with an optional “Audio Commentary” with director Jimmy ScreamerClauz. A small group of nightmare monsters living in the walls do battle with the occupants of the house. It has the almost 2 minute music video “Labby vs. Mr. Pickles Epic Rap Battle”. It has the 2012 little over 5 minute music video “Clinical Sodomy” from Butchers Harem. MC Bushpig and MC Cumblood create filthy pig mutant sex monsters in an abandoned hospital. What a small world, I did a track “Lycanthropy” in 2015 with Cumblood back in the day when we did music in the same sub-genre horrorcore. It has the 2012 little over 9 minute short film “Affection”. A nameless man awakes in a nightmare reality in which he explores death and sexuality. It has the little over 2 minute 2012 music video “Mutwa” from ScreamerClauz. It has the 2008 almost 4 minute short film “Reality Bleed – Through Remix”. The world is coming to an end. A mysterious drug called Sister Salvation has taken over the country. All of these 6 mini morbid animated films and music videos are from the same demented mind that brought the world Where the Dead Go to Die. It has a variety of Jimmy ScreamerClauz related “Trailers” on here. It has additional bonus material here that wasn’t featured on the older releases so that alone makes this worth upgrading.
