Warehouse 13: The Complete Series Blu Ray Review (Universal)

Warehouse 13 is a 2009 science fiction television series created by D. Brent Mote (Deep Red, Earthquake in New York, Night Visitors, and Atomic Train) and Jane Espenson (Foundation, Once Upon a Time, Torchwood, Battlestar Galactica, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer). It was directed by Chris Fisher (The Stand, Person of Interest, The Magicians, S. Darko, Rampage: The Hillside Strangler Murders, Nightstalker, Dirty, and Street Kings 2), Constantine Makris (Law and Order, Orange is the new Black, Royal Pains, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, and Rescue Me), Tawnia Mckiernan (NCIS, E.R., Las Vegas, Criminal Minds, and Supergirl), Jack Kenny (Titus, Caroline in the City, Jessica Jones, and The Book of Daniel), Stephen Surjik (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Psych, Burn Notice, and Wayne’s World 2), Howard Deutch (Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful, The Great Outdoors, The Replacements, Tales from the Crypt, True Blood, and The Whole Ten Yards), Jay Chandrasekhar (Super Troopers franchise, Club Dread, Beerfest, The Goldbergs, Chuck, and The Dukes of Hazzard), Jennifer Lynch (Boxing Helena, Hisss, Monster, American Horror Story, Chained, 9-1-1, and Surveillance), and 16 others. It lasted for 5 seasons on the Syfy channel. Two struggling U.S. Secret Service Agents Myka Bering (played by: Joanne Kelly from City on a Hill, Godfather of Harlem, The Disappearance, Zoo, and Hostages ) and Pete Lattimer (played by: Eddie McClintock from The Sweetest Thing, Stark Raving Mad, No Good Nick, Bones, and Shooter) are assigned by Mrs Frederic (played by: CCH Pounder from The Shield, RoboCop 3, Avatar franchise, Godzilla: The King of the Monsters, Sons of Anarchy, Orphan, End of Days, and E.R.) to the secretive Warehouse 13 for supernatural artifacts which is ran by Artie Nielsen (played by: Saul Rubinek from True Romance, Unforgiven, Hunters, War, Masters of Horror, The Family Man, and Frasier). It’s located far away in South Dakota and they both consider this job a punishment to them. They try to make the best out of an awkward situation. They must track down missing items and they have to investigate new finds. They end up adding a few others to their team which includes Claudia Donovan (played by: Allison Scagliotti from Stitchers, Chasity Bites, The Vampire Diaries, and The TV Set) and Steve Jinks (played by: Aaron Ashmore from Locke and Key, Killjoys, The Thaw, The Skulls II, are Smallville). They end appreciating their unique positions and they realize Warehouse 13 is a very important opportunity. Will these secret and rate things cause the group some dangerous problems???? Do you remember the non Jason Voorhees television show “Friday the 13th: The Series” from the late 80’s? Warehouse 13 has a very similar concept and it’s kinda like a modern version of it. Joanne Kelly and Eddie McClintock have great chemistry as the leads here. They really drive this sci-fi series with all their wacky adventures, I never really heard of either one until this show to be honest. The veteran actor presence in Warehouse 13 really elevated everything and I think these two just made the material more interesting. Both CCH Pounder and Saul Rubinek are top notch in their supporting roles. They are the main reasons why I originally gave it a shot. It has a great supporting cast that includes Aaron Ashmore, Allison Scagliotti, Genelle Williams (Spiral), Jaime Murray (Dexter), Simon Reynolds (Saw IV), Faran Tahir (Iron Man), Sasha Roiz (Land of the Dead), Brent Spiner (Star Trek franchise), Kelly Hu (X2: X-Men United), Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club), Rene Auberjonois (Star Trek franchise), Tia Carrere (Wayne’s World franchise), Judd Hirsch (Ordinary People), Joe Morton (Doom Patrol), Dee Wallace (The Howling), Cody Rhodes (WWE), and many others. It has some nice supernatural elements mixed with some mystery and adventure. It’s not as dark as I thought it should have been. There’s other shows that have a familiar vibe but Warehouse 13 is a little lighter compared to those. It gets serious at times but it does have it’s humor thrown in. People that appreciate history will enjoy this even more during it’s hunts for certain artifacts. The first three seasons are the strongest when it comes to it’s entire run. The last two were still decent but you can just tell it was running out of gas towards the end. Warehouse 13 is very fun and so entertaining, it’s a different take on the buddy type of situation here with some science fiction added to it all. It’s definitely worth looking into if you are into similar stuff, RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation and special features from Universal Pictures! These 1080p (1.78:1) transfers on all 64 episodes look great on blu ray. Warehouse 13 is one of the better sci-fi television shows during it’s time. The visual and special fx stand out here. It has a few different audio options which includes English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, German: DTS 5.1, and Italian: DTS 5.1 on this 15 disc set. The audio is impressive for this home video release. All of the dialogue is very clean, the mysteries are elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has English, English SDH, German, and Italian subtitles. It has so many “Audio Commentary” and “Podcast” tracks. It’s loaded with “Deleted and Extended Scenes”. It has lots of “Gag Reels” from the entire run. It has a variety of “Video Blogs” and “Webisodes” from Warehouse 13. There’s a good amount of behind the scenes and featurettes spread through out all 15 blu rays. “Warehouse 13: Behind the Shelves” is a little over 50 minutes and it’s one of highlights when it comes to bonus material on here. There’s honestly too many extras to even list, this Warehouse 13 complete series set has hours and hours of special features. If you are a fan of Warehouse 13, you will love this stacked home video release. It’s a must own for any sci-fi fan. It’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
