The Creep Tapes: Season Two Blu Ray Review (Acorn Media)

The Creep Tapes: Season Two is a 2025 horror found footage television series written / executive produced / created by Mark Duplass (Manson Family Vacation, Room 104, Somebody Somewhere, Togetherness, Wedlock, Adult Beginners, and The Skeleton Twins) and Patrick Brice (The Legend of MexMan, Room 104, Hang Loose, and The Overnight). It was directed by Patrick Brice (Creep franchise, There’s Someone Inside Your House, Corporate Animals, and Maurice). It’s a follow up to 2014’s Creep and 2017’s Creep 2. A serial killer known as Peachfuzz (played by: Mark Duplass from the Creep franchise, Safety Not Guaranteed, The Morning Show, Backrooms, Bombshell, The League, Zero Dark Thirty, The Lazarus Effect, and Goliath) lures videographers which includes Joseph (played by: David Dastmalchian from Oppenheimer, Dune, Late Night with the Devil, Dexter: Resurrection, and The Suicide Squad) and Wes (played by: Diego Josef from The Ballad of Lefty Brown, Goliath, and Animal Kingdom) into his world with the promise of a paid job documenting his life; as the tape rolls, the killer’s questionable intensions surface with his increasingly odd behavior!!!! The Creep Tapes: Season Two is even better than the first season. It brought everything up to a whole another level. I love how this TV show expands on this crazy universe. Each episode is a completely different story and they are not connected besides the same serial killer. “Joseph” follows a copycat that does his own take on the Peachfuzz murders. The real one decides to go undercover so he can get closer to his admiror. It’s full of surprises and twists as it develops. Character actor David Dastmalchian steals the show in this. “Wes” takes a videographer that accepts a gig to shoot a pilot for an upcoming home renovation series. Wes realizes something seems off but he continues to work on this project. The suspense, tension, and thrills increase as the two strangers spend more time together. Next up is “Mark” where a man (played by: Robert Longstreet from Halloween Kills) wakes up chained to someone else. He must solve some complicated puzzles to survive this nightmare. This kinda has a Saw vibe to it but with humor. “Ava” shows what happens when an interview goes terribly wrong for it’s host (played by: Taylor Garron from Abbott Elementary). This is an uncomfortable conversation that leads into pure chaos. The main character shows off more of his weird personality here. This is probably my least favorite segment but it’s still solid. “Nick” delivers some good ole Christmas Horror. Peachfuzz takes the identity of a therapist at his home. He gets a last minute session during Christmas Eve with the troubled client (played by: Timm Sharp from M3GAN 2.0). I think this is the most underrated episode from this season. It’s kinda flew under the radar so far but it gets brutal and gruesome. As their therapy goes on, Nick is shown a shocking familiar person in his life before it’s all over. Last but not least is “Angela”. Peachfuzz is awkwardly surprised by an enstraged family member (played by: Katie Aselton from The League) so it sets off a bizarre chain of events. The one that’s known for making others uncomfortable is experiencing this himself for once. This brings back a character from the original film so it’s a nice throwback to that. Mark Duplass and Katie Aselton are married in real life so their chemistry is always great. They worked together several times over the years. The Creep Tapes has the perfect balance of horror and humor. It has some nasty moments despite having so much comedy in this. I am not the biggest fan of the found footage sub-genre but I really dig this unique horror franchise.. It’s great that Shudder gave it a continuation in a shorter television format. I am looking forward to the next season because it just keeps getting better and weirder. RECOMMENDED!!!! These 1080p (1.78:1) unrated transfers all 6 episodes look much better than I thought it would be especially for having that found footage style to it. It’s a gritty and inside personal look into a mysterious serial killer. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. The audio definitely has it’s suspenseful and tense scenarios plus a good amount of violence. The score really adds to it’s unusual atmosphere. The dialogue is crisp, the murders are elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has an “Audio Commentaries” with creators Mark Duplass, Patrick Brice, and executive producer Christopher Donlonwith. All of these tracks are loaded with all kinds of inside information and personal stories from the production. They have a total blast revisiting Season Two together. They always make these more interesting with their insights into this horror franchise. It’s available everywhere right now in the U.K., CHECK IT OUT!!!!
