The Beast Within Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)

The Beast Within is a 2024 horror film co-written and directed by Andrew J. Farrell (Lighthouse Lesvos, Making a Killing, Star, and Refugee). It was co-written and produced by Greer Ellison (How to Date Billy Walsh, Hope Street, A Woman at Night, Spitball, and Making a Killing). It grossed $51,860 in the United States and Canada during it’s small theatrical run. After various strange events leads her to question her family’s isolated life on their secluded compound deep in the English wilds, 10-year-old Willow (played by: Caoilinn Springall from Doctor Who, Stopmotion, and The Midnight Sky) follows her parents Noah (played by: Kit Harington from Game of Thrones, Pompeii, Silent Hill: Revelation, Enternals, Gunpowder, MI-5, Seventh Son, and Brimstone) and Imogen (played by: Ashleigh Cummings from The Goldfinch, Hounds of Love, NOS4A2, and Westside) on one of their secret late night trips. She accidentally sees her father go through a shocking transformation. She learns more about her family’s dark history as she digs deeper into their past. What will happen next???? The Beast Within is a completely different type of werewolf feature. I know most horror fans will expect something else when it comes to The Beast Within but I appreciate it being original. It focuses on the pain and stress of being born with a curse and not being able to control it. Kit Harington as Noah is a tortured soul. He knows his awful situation and he tries to be away from everyone he loves when it gets to his breaking point. It’s a great performance, Kit plays two sides of Noah in The Beast Within. Ashleigh Cummings as Imogen tries to keep her family together dealing with this dangerous secret. She is strong and she tries keeping her sick daughter positive during it all. Caoilinn Springall as Willow is the glue for her surroundings. She has health problems and her father always goes away at the most random times. The rest of the supporting cast includes James Cosmo (Game of Thrones), Adam Basil (Game of Thrones), Martina McClements (Emmerdale Farm), and Andrei Nova (The Flash). The Beast Within doesn’t really have much violence or gore in it. It does have some excellent special fx when it comes to the werewolf transformation. The Beast Within is more of a family drama rather than horror but the suspense really kicks in for the final act. I can see it being very hit or miss with most audiences but it’s nice seeing something different in a cliche sub-genre. It keeps your attention for the most part for this alternate take on the werewolf universe. It’s worth checking out for fans of Kit Harington, you haven’t seen him do anything like this yet!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Well Go USA! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer looks great on blu ray. It has quality cinematography, locations, and special fx that really shine here. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. All of the dialogue is very clean, the drama is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English SDH and French subtitles. It has no extras on it besides a variety of “Trailers” from Well Go USA. It’s available everywhere on October 22nd, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
