Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season One Blu Ray Review (Paramount)

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a 2024 animated television series developed by Alan Wan (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise) and Christopher L. Yost (Cowboy Bebop, Thor franchise, and Max Steel). It was directed by Colin Heck (Harley Quinn, Ben 10, Mulligan, and The Legend of Korra). It was produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Cobweb, The Boys, Gen V, Invincible, Preacher, Future Man, Good Boys, Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Sausage Party: Foodtopia). It’s a follow up to 2023’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. The Teenage Ninja Turtles which includes Leonardo (played by: Nicolas Cantu from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and The Unicorn), Michaelangelo (played by: Shamon Brown Jr. from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Chi, and Peppermint Spiral), Donatello (played by: Micah Abbey from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Cousins for Life, and Grey’s Anatomy), and Raphael (played by: Brady Noon from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, and Family Switch) try to deal with their new found fame and success as heroes. They end up some chaotic situations with their friend April O’Neal (played by: Ayo Edebiri from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Bear, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Omni Loop, Opus, Bottoms, and Theater Camp) and their master Splinter (played by: Fred Tatasciore from Team America: World Police, Hit-Monkey, Family Guy, American Dad, and Batman: The Long Halloween). They are fighting a variety of new villains trying to destroy their home. At the same time, they still must go through all the stressful pressures of attending high school in New York City!!!! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem was a nice surprise a few years ago. All of the main cast from it besides Jackie Chan returned for this television follow up to it. Producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg always brings something unique to their projects. I’ve really enjoyed what they have done with this new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe so far. One of the best things about Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is the writing. They actually have deep plots, character arcs, and everything is connected here. It’s not your typical random episode every week with nothing building up like so many others out there. Yes, it’s on Nickelodeon but it has enough adult material to keep grown ups and long time fans interested. The entire young cast that came back from the movie killed it here as the iconic TMNT. Ayo Edebiri is great as April O’Neal, she’s been on fire for everything she does lately, she’s really blowing up. I really wished that the legendary Jackie Chan returned as Splinter but I understand this was a smaller and more ambitious production for the action star. The rest of the supporting cast includes Fred Tatasciore, Danny Trejo (Heat), Timothy Olyphant (Justified), Alanna Ubach (Ted), Pete Davidson (Saturday Night Live), Rose Byrne (Damages), Jillian Bell (Office Christmas Party), David Faustino (Married with Children), Post Malone (Road House), Natasia Demetriou (What We Do in the Shadows), Michael Badalucco (O Brother, Where Art Thou?), Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad), and Eric Bauza (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles). Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is loaded with all kinds of actions. It has a nice blend of comedy and drama thrown in the mix. The animation is top notch. I noticed some horror references and easter eggs throughout the season which was awesome. It has some really interesting villains mainly killer robots and some wild mutants. Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles held up compared to the impressive Mutant Mayhem so I was very impressed with everything on this TV show. I don’t really watch that many cartoons these days but it’s one of the best adaptations that I’ve covered in awhile. It’s so much fun and always entertaining with strong replay value to it. RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Paramount Pictures! These 1080p (2.39:1) transfers on all 12 episodes look fantastic on blu ray. Like I said above, the animation is so good when it comes to Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The visuals will definitely grab your attention for this recent TMNT adaptation. It has English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 tracks for each episode on 2 discs. The audio sounds amazing especially in a quality home set up. Lots of mayhem and action here. All of the dialogue is crisp, the crime fighting is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. This is a must own for any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan.
