Stream Blu Ray Review (Fuzz on the Lens Productions)

Stream is a 2024 horror film co-written, edited, produced, and directed by Michael Leavy (Halloween: Awakening, Catch of the Day, What’s the Deal, Leprechaun Revenge, and Abnormal Attraction). It was co-written by Jason Leavy (Halloween 60, Leprechaun Revenge, and Abnormal Attraction), Steven Della Salla (Halloween: Awakening, Directions, Inside Story, and Abnormal Attraction), and Robert Privitera (Mixed Messages, Covering the Spread, and Roommates). It was co-produced by filmmaker Damien Leone (Terrifier franchise, All Hallows’ Eve franchise, and Frankenstein vs. the Mummy). They are currently developing a follow up “Stream 2”. It had an estimated budget of $650,000. The Keenan family which includes Elaine (played by: Danielle Harris from the Halloween franchise, Hatchet franchise, The Last Boy Scout, Urban Legend, Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2, and Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead), Roy (played by: Charles Edwin Powell from Screamboat, The Exorcist III, Affliction, and Screamers), Kevin (played by: Wesley Holloway from Terrifier 2, Junction, and She Said), and Taylor (played by: Sydney Malakeh from Grey’s Anatomy, Shrinking, and Cheer Camp Killer) all try to bring their relationships closer together during this vacation. They accidentally enter themselves into a dangerous game of life or death when they check in their room for the evening. A group of deranged killers which includes Player 1 (played by: Jason Leavy from the Terrifier franchise, Operation, and The Dark Offerings), Player 2 (played by: David Howard Thornton from the Terrifier franchise, Screamboat, The Mean One, Gotham, and The Dark Offerings), Player 3 (played by: Liana Pirraglia from Lock Down Love and Political War), and Player 4 (played by: Mark Haynes from Bruised, Bros, Chase, and Cho) patrols the halls of this secluded hotel while competing for the most creative kills and the odds are stacked against these visitors as they struggle to survive the night as the mysterious Mr. Lockwood (played by: Jeffrey Combs from the Re-Animator franchise, The Frighteners, From Beyond, Castle Freak, Doctor Mordrid, House on Haunted Hill, Feardotcom, and I Still Know What You Did Last Summer) watches every gruesome moment!!!! Stream is one of the best horror movies of 2024. Horror producer Michael Leavy (Hollywood Dreams and Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story, Terrifier franchise, Fear Clinic, Screamboat, and Pennywise: The Story of It) gets back behind the camera again for this creative slasher. Stream kinda like Vacancy meets The Running Man. The script always kept itself fun and full of mayhem. Charles Edwin Powell as Roy Keenan is the father of the family that’s at the wrong place at the wrong time. He reminds me a little bit of Michael Paré. He holds his own against all of the other talented people here. He’s just trying to get his family out of this nightmare. Danielle Harris is great as Elaine Keenan. She’s the mom tries to keep it all together and make sure everyone is having a good time before all the chaos starts. She’s a fighter when she has to defend herself and everyone that she loves. It’s one of her best roles in a long time. Wesley Holloway as Kevin and Sydney Malakeh as Taylor are the two kids that feel completely different about this vacation. One is excited and the other just feels trapped. Kevin is top smart for his own age and Taylor is rebellious but she still cares about them when she faced with a dilemma. David Howard Thornton aKa Art the Clown keeps building his horror resume as the potential next horror icon. He’s behind a mask as Player 2 but he’s moves similar to his most famous role. He’s in a twisted brother and sister combination that likes to team up for their vicious murders during these competitions. Horror legend Jeffrey Combs steals the show as the demented Mr. Lockwood. He’s one of the greatest cinematic villains of all time no matter what he does and Stream is no different. He’s amazing as the man behind all this madness. He really deserves more projects like this, he can still act with the best of them with ease. The Mr. Lockwood character has potential to be one of the future horror icons for a long time if done right. I won’t go into detail to spoil but the way they have it set up, there’s endless possibilities. Stream is loaded with so many familiar faces and genre favorites. This impressive supporting cast includes Tony Todd (Candyman franchise), Tim Curry (Stephen King’s IT), Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Dee Wallace (The Howling), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp franchise), Tim Reid (Stephen King’s IT), Dave Sheridan (Scary Movie), Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination), Mark Holton (Leprechaun), Terry Alexander (Day of the Dead), Terry Kiser (Friday the 13th: The New Blood), Damian Maffei (The Strangers: Prey at Night), Allison Pittel (Screamboat), Bob Adrian (The Conjuring 2), Jadon Cal (Megaboa), Andrew Rogers (Cheer Camp Killer), Tara Fitzgerald (Diabolical), Caroline Anderson (Dead Till Death), Isla Cervelli (Blood Fest), Phuong Kubacki (Eenie Meanie), Chris Guttadaro (Pretty Fine Things), Michael Leavy (Sharknado 2: The Second One), Jason Leavy, Liana Pirraglia, and Mark Haynes. Stream is packed with plenty of wild surprises and crazy twists until the very end. It has quality tension, suspense, dark comedy, drama, and enough gruesome scenarios to please any diehard horror fanatic. I loved that they went with practical fx for it’s violence, kills, and gore. Terrifier’s own Damien Leone (Laugh Killer Laugh, Uncle Bob, Killer Among Us, The Black Water Vampire, and Zenith) handled that department and it’s definitely one of the highlights for this independent slasher. The main killers have a similar look to the psychopaths from The Purge franchise. Stream has a variety of over the top characters that you usually wouldn’t see all together at the same time so it makes an interesting mix. It has claustrophobic atmosphere and it feels like a throwback to the 80’s. Stream is more about style than story but I’m okay with that because it’s a total blast. It probably could have been a little shorter but it’s still so much fun and it’s very entertaining for the most part. It has potential to be a future horror franchise, I’m looking forward to the next one. RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Fuzz on the Lens Productions! This 1080p (2.00:1) unrated transfer looks amazing for it’s smaller budget. They used it wisely on all the right departments for Stream. The main location and it’s special fx really shines when it comes to the visuals here. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. The audio is very loud and explosive at times, the chaos is all over the place. All of the dialogue is crisp, the killing is elevated, and the music has a big boost to it. It has English SDH, Spanish (Castilian), Spanish (Latin America), French, French (Canadian), Italian, German, and Portuguese subtitles. It has an almost 6 minute “Blooper Reel”. It has an almost 7 minute “Streamers Fan Reel”. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
