Sorority of the Damned Blu Ray Review (Leomark Studios)
Sorority of the Damned is a 2025 horror comedy directed by Joe Davison (Experiment 7, As Night Falls, Mr. Engagement, Hank, South of Central, Beauty Is Skin Deep, and Frost Bite) and Roy Knyrim (Juggalo Championshxt Wrestling, Insane Clown Posse, Twiztid, Cemetery Gates, Night Skies, Death Racers, and Demons at the Door). It was co-written by Joe Davison (Into the Darkness, Demon Queen Pinball Machine, and The Bell Keeper) and Jeremy Lester (Nerd Shuttle). It was produced by Joe Davison (Unearthed, Ladybug, Quicklime, Illusions, I.M. Terror, The Bell Keeper, and Waiting Room). Child’s Play actor Alex Vincent did the post production sound for this. It had an estimated budget of $750,000. A unlucky handy man Trevor (played by: Joe Davison from 100 Tears, Stranger Things, Death Blow, Game of Death: The Six Doors to Hell, and Souleater) is forced to fight evil when a Sorority house mother Angela (played by: Felissa Rose from the Sleepaway Camp franchise, Victor Crowley, The Slasher Nurse, Crust, Stream, Dahmer vs. Gacy, The Perfect House, Tales of Halloween, and Terrifier 2) opens a deadly gate to hell and gets the whole sorority possessed by vicious demons!!!!
Sorority of the Damned is a refreshing horror comedy. It’s a total blast, it reminds me of the Evil Dead franchise. The script follows a janitor that’s at the wrong place at the wrong time. He’s just doing his job and it turns into a nightmare. Lead actor Joe Davison keeps busy here as the co-writer, director, and producer. He is the very unlikely hero Trevor in Sorority of the Damned. He’s the last one that you would expect to save the day but he manages to battle whatever comes his way. He’s not your typical main actor which adds something unique to this independent production. Scream Queen Felissa Rose shows up as Angela. She’s the mysterious woman that runs the sorority. When the girls find the secret room and book, she gets caught up in all of the chaos. The rest of the cast includes Richard Elfman (Forbidden Zone), Sarah French (Blind/Pretty Boy), Katarina Leigh Waters (WWE), Kenneth J. Hall (Robot Ninja), Sydney Carvill (Dark Cycle), Kaleina Cordova (Fortress), Jaime Brightbill (Mindcage), Chelsea Jordan (Was Live), Jeremy Lester (South of Central), Cheyenne Buchanan (No More Mr Nice Guy), Anna Sofie Christensen (Space Jam: A New Legacy), Renee Daw (True Blood), David Fralick (Uncle Sam), Kourtney George (Knock), and Olivia Cordell (The Super Pops). This low budget feature is loaded with skilled veterans for behind the scenes. It’s not a big surprise considering it’s co-directed by fx artist Roy Knyrim but one of the best things about Sorority of the Damned is the special fx from artists Matt Falletta (The Dentist 2, Sinister 2, Tales of Halloween, Interview with the Vampire, Death House, and Wishmaster franchise), Robby Knyrim (Willy’s Wonderland, Alone, and Breach), and Gage Munster (Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero, Demonic Toys: Personal Demons, American Horror Stories, Captain Marvel, The Nun, and Flight of the Living Dead). It was fabricated by Kenneth J. Hall (Ghoulies franchise, Critters, Carnosaur, Puppet Master franchise, and Jack Frost). It was shot by the talented DP Michael Su (Arena Wars, Road to Hell, Cyborg Nemesis: The Dark Rift, Bus Party to Hell, Pretty Boy, and WOW: Women of Wrestling). The production design was done by Jordu Schell (Bride of Re-Animator, Men in Black, Alien: Resurrection, Predators, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, The Thing, Hulk, Dawn of the Dead, and Hellraiser: Bloodline). Sorority of the Damned has all kinds of awesome gore, kills, monsters, and sleaze. It delivers on everything that you would want from this type of film. It has a great balance of comedy and horror, it has some hilarious moments. It’s very self aware and it doesn’t mind making fun of itself. It’s full of over the top entertainment. I had no expectations but this was a nice surprise. I’m shocked that no one is really talking about it because it definitely deserves more attention. It’s currently streaming on Tubi and Fawesome if you are curious. It has potential to be a cult classic in the future, RECOMMENDED!!!!
Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Leomark Studios! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer has a visual style to it that’s kinda a throwback to the 80’s. It slick has cinematography, gruesome special fx, and quality production design that stands out here. It has an English: Dolby Digital 5.1 track on the disc. There’s lots of action and violence towards the end so it’s very strong during when all hell breaks loose. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the killing is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
