Senior Moment is loaded with familiar faces/character actors that includes Esai Morales, Carlos Miranda, Christopher Lloyd, Don McManus (Vice), Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), Maya Stojan (Castle), Joe Estevez (The Zero Boys), Jack Wallace (Death Wish), Kim Estes (ER), Ron Gilbert (The Usual Suspects), and Luke Massy (Thor). Not sure why but older people comedies are starting to become popular again recently and this one definitely fits that sub-genre. For the most part, the script doesn’t take itself serious at all and it’s silly but fun. Director Giorgio Serafini is mainly know for direct to video action and horror but he tries comedy for this one. I’m a big fan of William Shatner but let’s be honest, he’s done lots of crap over the years for a easy paycheck. This his best performance and role in a long time. You can tell that he is actually cared about this feature. He has great chemistry with Jean Smart and Christopher Lloyd in Senior Moment. Hopefully, he does more material like this in the future because it’s good to see him back. Jean Smart is highly underrated and she is great in this comedy. She increased the quality with her presence and made everyone better around her. This one is ridiculous at times but it’s entertaining during it’s over the top moments. It does get serious towards the end. I wasn’t expecting much but I had fun with Senior Moment.
Let’s talk about the standard definition presentation from Screen Media! The (2.35:1) transfer for this DVD is solid and it has some really nice locations. A Blu Ray was originally announced but it got cancelled. It has two different audio options which includes English: 5.1 Surround & English: 2.0 Stereo on the release. It’s not the type of feature that’s going to blow your speakers away but it does have a solid soundtrack. All of the dialogue is crystal clear & the music has a nice boost here. It also has English SDH subtitles. I am not sure if it’s just the batch where my copy came from or all of them but it didn’t have any extras on the DVD despite multiple ones listed on the back which was a little odd. This is available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
Not really my normal type of movie but your review makes me want to check it out.
