See For Me Blu Ray Review (IFC Midnight)

See for Me is a 2021 independent suspense thriller film directed by Randall Okita (The Lockpicker, Brand Canada, and The Book of Distance). It was written by Adam Yorke (Bunker Burger) and Tommy Gushue (Republic of Doyle). It was produced by Kristy Neville (The Silencing, Hot Flash, Easy Land, and Firecrackers). A group of thieves lead by Rico (played by: Kim Coates from Sons of Anarchy, The Amityville Curse, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Prison Break, and Silent Hill) break into a luxurious and secluded mansion. Sophie (played by: Skyler Davenport from Handa-kun, Berserk, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Breakers) is house-sitting for Debra (played by: Laura Vandervoort from V, Rabid, Jigsaw, Supergirl, and Smallville). Sophie,is a visually impaired former skier. She needs to rely on Kelly (played by: Jessica Parker Kennedy from The Flash, Supergirl, Black Sails, and Smallville), an army veteran living across the country, to be her eyes and help her fight back against the dangerous criminals!!!!

See for Me starts out a little slow at first but it’s definitely worth the wait. The script gives a solid character build up plus the tension during the final act is intense. This is one of the better independent suspense thrillers in recent years. It’s set up really smart with one single location for the most part during the production. The house is more like one of the main characters in See for Me rather than your typical visual spot with no value. Excellent production design and a great score increase the quality here. Skyler Davenport looks great here but she’s more than eye candy in this low budget thriller. She puts the entire feature on her back and she gives an amazing performance as a woman trying to survive a nightmare situation while being blind. The supporting cast was better than expected in this. Laura Vandervoort has a cameo in this as the house owner. Jessica Parker Kennedy plays a vet with a troubled past looking for redemption. Kim Coates steals the show during the final act as the vicious leader of the thieves. He has always been a great villain and this one was no different. See for Me really picks up after it’s character development for Sophie. I love the home invasion sub-genre and this is a nice entry, it’s loaded with all kinds of thrills and chills. RECOMMENDED!!!!

Let’s talk about the high definition presentation for IFC Midnight! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer looks great in blu ray. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. It sounds crystal clear when it comes to the dialogue, the thrills are elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It also has English SDH subtitles. The only extras on the disc are a few “Trailers” for other IFC features. It’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!!
