Raging Midlife Blu Ray Review (Level 33 Entertainment)

Raging Midlife is a 2025 comedy co-written, produced, and directed by Rob Taylor (Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time and Evil Cult). It was co-written and produced by Nic Costa (Neil Stryker and the Tyrant of Time). Two dedicated wrestling fans Alex Faulkner (played by: Nic Costa from Cyberfist, Midnight Mayhem, and My First Mister) and Mark Winters (played by: Matt Zak from Neon Blue and Evil Cult) are on a quest to recover some 80’s wrestling memorabilia. Alex’s sister Mindy (played by: Emily Sweet from V/H/S 99, Castle Freak, Fear Pharm, and Eight Eyes) is the reason that they lost their original prized item from superstar Raging Abraham Lincoln (played by: Motch O Mann). The desperate friends track down former valet and manager Mary Todd (played by: singer Paula Abdul from American Idol, Impractical Jokers: The Movie, Robots, and So You Think You Can Dance) to locate their childhood memory. They come so close to getting this item again but they are outbid by Tyler Roberts (played by: Darielle Mason from Half Sisters and Test Screening) that just wants to fulfill her father’s last wish. This causes so many problems for the duo, can they pull off getting back their dream souvenir after all this time???? Raging Midlife is a unique buddy comedy related to childhood memories, professional wrestling, and learning to finally grow up. Director Rob Taylor brings something different to the popular sub-genre. It’s full of nostalgia from the 80’s and it’s very relatable to someone that grew up during then as a diehard fan of sports entertainment. Best friends Alex Faulkner and Mark Winters are going through their own midlife crisis. They want to get back the shirt that they caught from a live event during their younger years. Co-writer Nic Costa and Matt Zak have solid chemistry as the wrestling obsessed duo. They go a little crazy trying to recover this item. It’s a hilarious all the wild situations it puts them in. Emily Sweet steals the show as Mindy Faulkner. She’s an unlikely villain but she pulls it off as the sister that’s always trying to mess with her brother at any cost. Darielle Mason as Tyler Roberts is just trying to do that one last thing for her father and it gets her caught up in these over the top scenarios. Motch O Mann does his best “Macho Man” Randy Savage impersonation here in Raging Midlife. Paula Abdul as Mary Todd is a former wrestling personality that’s just trying to live a normal life after her previous success. She is very similar to the actual Miss Elizabeth which is what the character was based on. The rest of the supporting cast includes Eddie Griffin (Undercover Brother), Walter Koenig (Star Trek), Rob Taylor (MoonPi), Greg James (Bad Fish), Judy Levitt (Star Trek franchise), Lucy Paschall (Grimm), Ithica Tell (Losing Addison), Danielle Vasinova (Dexter), Brian Sutherland (Holiday Hell), Joseph Aviel (Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F), Jerry Bell Jr. (Jason Rising: A Friday the 13th Fan Film), Sophia Luz (Loon Lake), and Bryna Smith (Spiral). Raging Midlife is an unexpected romantic comedy. It has a little bit of everything for everyone here. Yeah, a good amount of the characters are kinda unlikeable but I liked that they didn’t care about that in Raging Midlife. It made for an interesting mix of it’s roles. It was so ridiculous that it elevated it’s dark humor at times. This was much better than expected, I had a blast with it. It’s just a simple fun and entertaining independent feature with some over the top situations, RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation and special features from Level 33 Entertainment! This 1080p (2:35.1) transfer looks excellent on blu ray. They were very creative here with their low budget and it displays all that on the screen. It has a English: Dolby Digital 5.1 track. The audio is really stands out especially during the wrestling moments. All of the dialogue is very clean, the comedy is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has an “Audio Commentary” with director Rob Taylor and lead actor Nic Costa. They chat about their characters and when it was originally written. They talk about the original concept that was changed. It was based on finding Big Trouble in Little China tank top before it went to wrestling. The main wrestler is based off of Macho Man and Hulk Hogan. They mention how they got some of the bigger names involved with it. They go into great detail about the low budget production with a variety of information and inside stories from it. It has almost 13 minutes of “Deleted Scenes”. It has the almost 19 minute “Premiere Q and A”. It chats with the cast and crew before the screening. They answer some questions about their experience here. They talk about the movie, the characters, cast, and everything else when it comes to the comedy. It was originally called Savage Midlife. It has the “Trailer” for Raging Midlife. It has the little over a minute “Photo Gallery”. This is a M.O.D (BD-R) home video release. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
