Project Wolf Hunting Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)

After an extradition of criminals from Manila was disrupted by suicide attack at the airport, officials decided that the next group of criminals should be transported by sea. While under heavily armed guard, the dangerous convicts aboard a cargo ship unite in a coordinated escape attempt that soon escalates into a bloody, all-out riot. But as the fugitives continue their brutal campaign of terror, they soon discover that not even the most vicious among them is safe from the horror they have unknowingly unleashed from the darkness below deck!!!!!

Project Wolf Hunting might be the biggest surprise of 2023 when it comes to cinema! I thought the trailer looked cool when I originally seen it but I didn’t expect the final result to be this good. My expectations weren’t high but Project Wolf Hunting is the best unknown/smaller feature of the year so far, This might be the greatest Asian film that Well Go USA has ever done distribution for in the states. If you are a fan of 80’s action and slasher flicks then you are going to love this movie. The body count is insane here, the main villain kills almost 60 people in this. It’s very brutal, this blood soaked entertainment keeps your eyes glued to the screen the entire time. Project Wolf Hunting features some quality gore and non stop action with some impressive fight choreography. Korean cinema isn’t scared to push the boundaries and this one is no different, everything is amped up.

This action horror hybrid has a solid cast that includes Chang-Seok Ko (Lady Vengeance), Seo In-Guk (The Master’s Sun), Dong-Yoon Jang (Search), Jung So-Min (Alchemy of Souls), Gwi-hwa Choi (Train to Busan and The Wailing), Dong-il Sung (Chuno) and Park Ho-San (Prison Playbook). It takes the Universal Soldier concept but it gets darker than that one. I will say that don’t expect a great script or plot with this one but it delivers everywhere else. Once it picks up in Project Wolf Hunting, it never stops after that and it goes batshit crazy for the rest of it. There’s a twist at the end and it kinda opens up for a possible sequel. Looking at it’s box office results, I’m honestly not sure if that’s possible at this point but I would love to see that happen because this was one of the most entertaining, violent, and fun Asian films that I’ve seen in a long time. Everyone needs to give Project Wolf Hunting a shot, it’s currently in top 5 & I don’t see it moving past 10 when the year is over so check it out. We need more films like this, it reminds me of those features from back in the day, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!

Let’s talk about the high definition presentation and special features from Well Go USA! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer looks great in HD. It’s a stylish cinematography with high quality special fx really stand out here. It has a few different audio options which includes Korean: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Korean: Dolby Digital 2.0, English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, and English: Dolby Digital 2.0 on the disc. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the chaos is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English subtitles. Both picture and sound are very impressive on this home video release. “Behind the Scenes” is almost 5 minutes. “Making the Alpha” is a little over a minute. Both of these are a quick look inside of this wild production. They are both pretty short but they get to the point when it comes to their focus. It has interviews with the cast and crew plus some fx stuff when it comes to the main villain. They are in Korean with English subtitles. It also includes some “Trailers” including one for Project Wolf Hunting. This is available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
