Night Hunter Blu Ray Review (Paramount)

Night Hunter (aKa Nomis) is a 2018 psychological thriller film written, produced, & directed by David Raymond (The Other Man & Absence of War). It was produced by 35 different people which includes Robert Ogden Barnum (31, Reach Me, Cold in July, Catch .44, Lawless, & American Ultra), Jeff Beesley (The Midnight Man, Siberia, & We Summon the Darkness), Nadine de Barros (Fire with Fire, Angel of Mine, Maximum Conviction, True Justice, & Faces in the Crowd), & Kevin Scott Frakes (Hereditary, Split / Glass, 31, John Wick 1/2, & Mother’s Day). It was available on video on demand at DirecTV & it had a limited theatrical run a month later.

When the body of a young woman is found on a lumber truck, Detective Walter Marshall (played by: Henry Cavill from Justice League, Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, & Mission: Impossible – Fallout) suspects that the victim jumped to her death to escape from a captor. A breakthrough is inadvertently made in the case when former judge Michael Cooper’s (played by: Ben Kingsley from Iron Man 3, Gandhi, Schindler’s List, & Species) vigilante sting to capture a child predator results in his ward Lara (played by: Eliana Jones from Nikita, Hemlock Grove, & The Stanley Dynamic) being kidnapped. Through a tracker in Lara’s earrings, Marshall finds her & other captive young women in a mansion owned by Simon Stulls (played by: Brendan Fletcher from Freddy vs. Jason, Ginger Snaps franchise, Alone in the Dark, & Arrow), a seemingly-mentally disabled man. Simon is arrested & the police attempt to determine if he is responsible for the abductions.

Police profiler Rachel Chase (played by: Alexandra Daddario from Texas Chainsaw 3D, Bereavement, True Detective, & Baywatch) & Commissioner Harper (played by: Stanley Tucci from Captain America: The First Avenger, Monkey Shines, Transformers franchise, & The Hunger Games franchise) help with the complicated case. In investigating Simon’s background, they discover that he was born from rape & his mother attempted suicide before giving birth to him.  While Simon is in custody, the police force finds themselves apparently being targeted by another attacker. Technician Matthew Quinn (played by: Nathan Fillion from Castle, Firefly, Slither, & Green Lantern: Emerald Knights) runs into some bad luck & fellow technician Glasow (played by: Mpho Koaho from Falling Skies, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, & Saw franchise) is forced to free Simon when the life of his infant daughter is threatened. The police recapture Simon after he has killed his father, just as Cooper discovers that Lara is missing. Cooper ambushes his police transport but he runs into an unlikely surprise, can they stop this real life monster or Is it too late????
