LA Aids Jabber Blu Ray Review (Visual Vengeance)
L.A. AIDS Jabber (aKa Jabber) is a 1994 low budget horror film written, produced, and directed by Drew Godderis (Blood Diner, Evil Spawn, Deep Space, and Cannibal Hookers). Jeff (played by: Jason Majik from Who’s the Boss?, Beverly Hills 90210, and A Dangerous Place), a mentally unstable young man is diagnosed with AIDS and takes his anger out on the world by filling a syringe with his own tainted blood and trolling the seedy streets of Los Angeles looking for victims in an acid-washed and venomous delirium. Police slowly piece together his crimes in an attempt to stop this ticking virus time bomb from jabbing again!!!!
L.A. AIDS Jabber (aKa Jabber) is an interesting entry when it comes to shot on video horror. It has a man that just got the worst news ever from his doctor and he loses his grip on reality. He starts his own Falling Down rampage with his new found disease that he doesn’t have a chance of surviving. Jabber kinda has a slasher vibe when it’s anti-hero going around and paying back the people that have done him wrong in the past. A little revenge mixed in with the serious issue of AIDS at the time when it was really terrorizing and traumatizing the world. They used that exploitation to make this one unique at the time. Jabber definitely stood out when it came to other low budget and independent horror stuff during the 90’s. I don’t remember anything like this one back in the day. Everything is little bit over the top here but it works for this one. Jabber was directed by Uncle Namtut from one of my favorite cult films Blood Diner. If you are looking for something different than usual shot on video horror entertainment then you should check out L.A. AIDS Jabber (aKa Jabber)!!!!
Let’s talk about the high definition presentation from Visual Vengeance. The 1080p original full screen (1.33:1) transfer is sourced from archival master taken from the master SD tape. L.A. AIDS Jabber has always looked rough to be honest but this is the best it will ever look when it comes to the overall visuals for this super low budget independent horror feature from the 90’s. Anyone who compares this to the original source material will be very impressed. The English Dolby Digital 2.0 track is decent plus it comes with Optional English Subtitles. The best thing about the audio on this home video release is the music, score, and soundtrack for the movie. This is a region free release so it plays everywhere!!!!
