Hunted Blu Ray Review (Shoreline Entertainment / Saban Films)

Hunted (aKa Hounded) is a 2022 horror film edited and directed by Tommy Boulding (Stump). It was written by Dean Lines (The Hatton Garden Job, The Banishing, and The Lost Generation) and Ray Bogdanovich (The Three Musketeers, Now I’ll Sleep, and The Banishing). It grossed $174,036 during it’s limited theatrical run. After being hired by Gregory (played by: Larry Lamb from EastEnders, Superman franchise, Essex Boys, and Rise of the Footsoldier 3)to rob a fancy manor residence, a group of friends which includes Vix (played by: Hannah Traylen from Boiling Point, Sexy Beast, and Ridley Road), Leon (played by: Nobuse Jnr from The Group and South Beast), Tod (played by: Ross Coles from The Rise and Fall of Tommy Concord), and Chaz (played by: Malachi Pullar-Latchman from The Three Musketeers and Shark Bait) are caught by the homeowners on a job that should have been easy. Lead by Lady Katherine Redwick (played by: Samantha Bond from the James Bond franchise, Cold Blood, and Downton Abbey) with Hugo Redwick (played by: James Lance from Ted Lasso, Bronson, Spaced, Being Human, and Pennyworth), Miles Redwick (played by: Louis Walwyn from The Bastard Son and The Devil Himself), Remington Redwick (played by: James Faulkner from Game of Thrones, Atomic Blonde, The Bank Job, Hitman, and Underworld: Blood Wars), and their bodyguard Mallory (played by: Nick Moran from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, New Blood, Terminal, Accident Man, Avengement, and the Harry Potter franchise) chase the young criminals across the large estate. They now must survive these rich psychopaths twisted brand of entertainment which happens to be hunting humans. Will they make it out alive???? Hunted was a huge surprise, I wasn’t expecting much from this and it kinda blew me away. It’s the perfect example of wrong place at the wrong time. A group of thieves break into a wealthy looking place looking to score some expensive stuff. The problem is that the owners are waiting on them. The script pays tribute to The Most Dangerous Game and it takes on the popular hunting humans sub-genre. Hannah Traylen as Vix and Malachi Pullar-Latchman as Chaz really stand out for the leads in Hunted. They are the hardest ones to track down from the group when it comes to the crazy game. All of the main villains which includes Samantha Bond, James Faulkner, and James Lance as the powerful Redwick family with their enforcer Mallory played by Nick Moran are top notch in this. That’s an all star cast when it comes to British villains. Their performances took Hunted to a whole new level. They were vicious and they used dogs to track them down. The rest of the supporting cast includes Louis Walwyn, Nobuse Jnr, Ross Coles, Larry Lamb, Duncan Casey (Accident Man), Matt Addis (Doctor Who), and Katrina Syran (The Lady from the Sea). There’s not a single weak link when it comes to the acting in this thriller. Hunted stays suspenseful with so many tense moments while all hell is breaking loose. The hunters have more success when they are together and it gets real interesting when they finally split up. Hunted provides plenty of action and violence. I am a huge fan of the hunting humans sub-genre and this was a high quality entry that no one knows. I’m really shocked how underrated and unknown this independent gem is. It deserves way more attention than it currently gets, it’s actually one of the best features from 2022. RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Shoreline Entertainment! This 1080p (1.78:1) looks much better than expected for being a low budget production. It uses it’s high class location wisely plus all the farm land and outside areas during the hunt. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track on the disc. The audio is great especially for the more thrilling situations. All of the dialogue is very clean, the hunting is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. Unfortunately, there’s no extras on this home video release. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R. It’s streaming on Tubi at the moment if you are curious about it. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!!
