Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is a 2025 dark action comedy film produced and directed by Gore Verbinski (A Cure for Wellness, The Lone Ranger, Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, The Weather Man, The Ring, The Mexican, and Mousehunt). It was executive produced and written by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Dora and the Lost City of Gold, Monster Trucks, The Invention of Lying, Jerked, and Black Box). It was produced by Erwin Stoff (Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey, Constantine, The Devil’s Advocate, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Matrix, Edge of Tomorrow, Chain Reaction, and I Am Legend) and Robert Kulzer (Resident Evil franchise, Fantastic Four franchise, Ironheart, Wrong Turn franchise, Pandorum, Monster Hunter, and Agatha All Along). It had an estimated budget of $20,000,000 and it grossed $9,755,038 worldwide at the box office. A dark night. A crowded diner. A Man (played by: Sam Rockwell from Jerry and Tom, Safe Men, Matchstick Men, Iron Man 2, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Seven Psychopaths, The Green Mile, Mr. Right, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Moon, and Galaxy Quest) with a detonator bursts in proclaiming to be from the future. This is the 117th time he’s returned with the same imperative. Before time runs out, he must recruit a group of distinctly unqualified diner patrons which includes Ingrid (played by: Haley Lu Richardson from The White Lotus, Five Feet Apart, Split, and Ponies), Mark (played by: Michael Peña from Ant-Man franchise, Crash, End of Watch, American Hustle, Jack Ryan, and A Working Man), Janet (played by: Zazie Beetz from Deadpool 2, Joker franchise, Atlanta, They Will Kill You, Bullet Train, and Invincible), Scott (played by: Asim Chaudhry from People Just Do Nothing, The Sandman, Wonder Woman 1984, and Black Mirror), and Susan (played by: Juno Temple from Ted Lasso, Horns, Venom: The Last Dance, Black Mass, Killer Joe, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Fargo, and The Dark Knight Rises) to stop the impending AI apocalypse and save humanity from the perils of social media. Everything is stacked against these unlikely heroes from skeptical strangers and brain-rotted teenagers, to algorithmic monstrosities beyond their control!!!! Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die might be the biggest surprise of the year. It’s truly unique plus it mixes several different sub-genres which includes dark comedy, science fiction, drama, and action. The script is very creative, it’s definitely one that you need to fully pay attention to because so much happens here. Lots of important moments that make more sense later on when everything is revealed. Director Gore Verbinski makes his return to behind the camera after 9 years. Unfortunately, this flopped in theaters and it really didn’t get a proper chance. I can see this being a future cult classic because it was honestly misunderstood by the mainstream. Maybe it was just too complicated for them but I thought it was a gem. One of the best films released in theaters for 2026 so far. Lead actor Sam Rockwell is top notch as The Man from the Future. He originally comes off as some random unhinged mad man but as it goes on, he starts to make more sense. It’s an interesting role that’s full of surprises, he’s willing to do anything to achieve his mission here to save the world. Rockwell always delivers no matter what he does and he gives a brave performance. Juno Temple is great as the feisty Susan. She stands out the most from the random group that joins this odd stranger in this crazy adventure. Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz, Michael Peña, and Asim Chaudhry all have their own interesting vibes and different personalities that add to this chaotic situation. The rest of the cast includes Tom Taylor (The Dark Tower), Georgia Goodman (The Running Man), Daniel Barnett (Street Trash), Artie Wilkinson-Hunt (Masters of the Universe), Riccardo Drayton (Jamie Johnson), Dominique Maher (Warrior), Adam Burton (True Detective), Lawrence Joffe (Tremors 5: Bloodlines), Marc Pleass (Dredd), and Wiseman Sithole (Straat). Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die focuses on the powerful influence of A.I., technology, and how it’s all over society these days. It’s an ambitious satire but it’s a total blast and it’s non stop entertainment. Time travel movies are so much fun and they don’t really do enough of them besides superhero projects so I’m always excited when they pop up. These strangers go through hell to stop what’s happened many times before according to their wacky prophet leader. It’s thought provoking, risky, and something like this could take place considering how much of this stuff is taking control on almost every possible thing. Lots of over the top subplots come together for a tension filled finish. Every major character gets their own shine in this with a backstory. I appreciate that it’s actually Rated R so it doesn’t hold on the language and the violence is much better than expected. It kinda had a 12 Monkeys feel to it and I’m all about that. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die has a high energy atmosphere and it keeps itself unpredictable. It’s not for everyone but if it connects with you like it did with me then it’s one of the best visuals from cinema this year. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! This 2160p (2.39:1) transfer with Dolby Vision and HDR10 is one of the true highlights this year when it comes to sharp visuals on home video. It has stylish cinematography, excellent production design, great locations, and amazing visual/special fx. It has a few different audio options which includes English: Dolby Atmos and English: Dolby TrueHD 7.1 tracks on the UHD. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is one to test out your home setup because it will put your speakers to the test. Lots of pure mayhem and insane scenarios that shine when it comes to the audio. All of the dialogue is crisp, the suspense is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English SDH, French, and Spanish subtitles. It has the little over 5 minute “The Making of ‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die”. It has quick interviews with Sam Rockwell, Juno Temple, Zazzi Beetz, and Michael Peña. They go over it’s concept, story, characters, the director, and it’s themes. They bring up influences for this and they break down their roles. It also has some behind the scenes footage.
