Exit Protocol Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)
Exit Protocol is a 2025 action film directed by Shane Dax Taylor (The Grey, Bloodworth, Isolation, Masquerade, The Best Man, and Murder Company). It was executive produced and written by Chad Law (Hero Wanted, The Hit List, 6 Bullets, The Getback, Section 8, Close Range, Beyond the Law, Black Water, and Jarhead 3: The Siege). It was produced by Jack Sheehan (Chili Finger, Operation Taco Gary’s, Abril, I See the Demon, Pig Hill, Beast of Burden, Deep Murder, and River Runs Red). It had estimated budget of $3,000,000. An elite assassin’s Sam Hayden (played by: Scott Martin from Big Kill, The Best Man, Repetition, and Battle Force) specialty is eliminating other operatives leaving the business, but it’s time for him to walk away. With a target on his back with killers which includes Isaac Florentine (played by: Michael Jai White from Spawn, Black Dynamite, Exit Wounds, The Dark Knight, and Universal Soldier: The Return) closing in, he must join forces with the very mark Charles Managold (played by: Dolph Lundgren from Rocky IV, The Punisher, Masters of the Universe, Universal Soldier franchise, and The Expendables franchise) that he once hunted, as the two fight to survive and break free from the deadly cycle!!!!
Exit Protocol has an interesting concept with assassin vs. assassin vs. assassin which grabbed my attention right away. The fact that it had action legends Dolph Lundgren and Michael Jai White sold it even more. Independent director Shane Dax Taylor is behind the camera and veteran action writer Chad Law is responsible for the script. This duo takes on this ambitious production with some serious names attached to it. The idea has so much promise but it’s not really executed like it should have been. Lead actor Scott Martin is apparently the ultimate contract killer Sam Hayden. He’s the one that they send after all of the vicious murderers. That gives John Wick vibes but unfortunately this guy doesn’t come close to that. Martin reminds of the talented Joel David Moore but I could never picture him in something like this. Scott Martin does an okay job here but it’s a total miscast. The audience never buys him as this complete bad ass especially considering who is up against in Exit Protocol. Scott Adkins would have been perfect for this character and this would have been way better with his presence. Unfortunately, Scott Martin is the weakest link when it comes to everyone and he’s the main guy. Dolph Lundgren is one of the best things for Exit Protocol as Charles Managold. He’s one of the few to survive Sam Hayden and they end up working together. They both have a common enemy and they want to eliminate their past. Dolph Lundgren really improves this action film with his screen time. Michael Jai White damn near steals the show as Isaac Florentine. Action fans will recognize that name because it’s a tribute to a director that has made a name for himself in this genre. He’s the villain and that stands out when you look at his associates. It just shows how deadly this hitman is when it comes to this killing game. He’s great as the ferocious tracker that won’t stop until his mission is accomplished. The rest of the supporting cast includes Charlotte Kirk (Tekken 2: Kazuya’s Revenge), Lina Maya (Pussy Kills), Stephanie Beran (Planet of the Sharks), Aaron McPherson (A Million Ways to Die in the West), J.B. Yowell (DEVOUR), Clint Hummel (Two Witches), and Christian Cardona (Battle Force). Exit Protocol delivers on the action, suspense, violence, tension, and drama. It does drag a little bit at times. I think they overdid the CGI and it really wasn’t needed. Despite all of this, Exit Protocol is rather fun. The two main draws for this do everything thing possible to make this a decent effort but they can only push it so far with all of it’s limitations. It kinda reminds me of those direct to video 80’s productions and I am cool with that. Turn off your brain and get ready for some entertainment!!!!
Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Well Go USA! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer looks really great on Blu Ray. This is no surprise considering they had a solid budget behind this one. The locations and production design really pop out when it comes to the sharper visuals. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 tracks on the disc. The audio takes advantage of all of it’s hard hitting action and chaos. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the action is elevated, and the music has a huge boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has the “Trailer” for Exit Protocol. It has various Well Go USA related “Trailers”. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
