Enemy Gold Blu Ray Review (Mill Creek Entertainment)

Enemy Gold is a 1993 independent action film co-written & directed by Christian Drew Sidaris (The Dallas Connection). Drew Sidaris was the second assistant director on a few of his dad’s films such as Malibu Express, Hard Ticket to Hawaii, Picasso Trigger, Savage Beach, Guns, & Do or Die. Plus he worked on 13 episodes each for the television shows The Dukes of Hazzard & The A-Team. It was co-written & produced by Wess Rahn (The Dallas Connection). It was produced by the legendary Andy Sidaris (Return to Savage Beach, Day of the Warrior, Seven, Hard Hunted, & Fit to Kill). It’s not officially apart of the L.E.T.H.A.L. Ladies franchise/universe but it features many of the same cast from those movies as different characters in this.

While on a mission to stop a drug operation, three Federal agents which includes Chris Cannon (played by: Bruce Penhall from CHiPs, The Dallas Connection, Savage Beach, & Body Count), Mark Austin (played by: Mark Barriere from The Dallas Connection, Fit to Kill, & Married… with Children), & Becky Midnite (played by: Suzi Simpson from Rock Star, The Last Road, Red Surf, & Playboy) accidentally discover gold from the Civil War. They cause major problems for their corrupt boss Dickson (played by: Alan Abelew from Meatballs 4, Bulletface, & Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood). The Federal agents get suspended & they are forced to stop their investigation. Ava Noble (played by: Tanquil Lisa Collins from Thunder in Paradise & Baywatch) might be the only one on the inside that they can trust after going rogue. After losing all kinds money & product, ruthless criminal kingpin Santiago (played by: Rodrigo Obregón from Savage Beach/Return to Savage Beach, The Dallas Connection, L.A. Wars, & Collateral Damage) hires deadly assassin Jewel Panther (played by: Julie Strain from Return to Savage Beach, Day of the Warrior, Out for Justice, & Sorceress 1/2) to hunt them down one by one for his blood thirsty revenge. Who can they trust after all of this chaos? Will they be able to make it out of this dangerous game alive plus find the long lost gold????

Andy Sidaris left behind Malibu Bay Films & decided to produce this one instead of directing it. He turned over the sleaze action kingdom to his son Christian Drew Sidaris who started Skyhawks Films for this production. Don’t worry, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree when it came to this newer film maker at the time. He worked as the second assistant director for 6 of his father’s films so he knew exactly what deliver when it came to their fan base. Honestly, if someone didn’t tell you before you would actually think it was directed by the legendary cult director because it’s like all his other features. It’s loaded with action with lots of bullets & bombs. Almost the whole cast is attractive, it has some amazing eye candy when it comes to the ladies here. Most of them are not shy at all either so it has all kinds of nudity. Andy Sidaris fans will recognize most of the cast from some of his other movies. It has nothing to do with the previous L.E.T.H.A.L. Ladies series so they all play completely different characters in Enemy Gold. Rodrigo Obregón is great as the villain, he always stood out in every Sidaris production, The rest of the cast had fun with their roles & hammed it up, don’t expect any Oscar performances here. Enemy Gold is pure entertainment & it’s so much fun to experience. Turn off your brain & enjoy all the ridiculous action in this. The replay value is very strong with this one, RECOMMENDED!!!!

Let’s talk about the high definition presentation from Mill Creek Entertainment! This 1080p (1.78:1) transfer is from a brand new 4K widescreen restoration. Enemy Gold looks great here, it’s never looked this good on home video before. I’ve seen it on every format in the past & this release blows them all away. The English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track has a nice kick to it. As expected, all the action really shines here. All of the dialogue is crystal clear & the music has a nice boost to it. It also has English SDH subtitles.
