Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade Blu Ray Review (Full Moon Features)

Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade (aKa Emanuelle and the Girls of Madame Claude and La via della prostituzione) is an 1978 Italian sexploitation film co-written and directed by Joe D’Amato (Emanuelle franchise, Death Smiles on a Murderer, Crazy Nights, Beyond the Darkness, Anthropophagus, Absurd, and Deep Blood). It was co-written by Romano Scandariato (Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals, Zombie Holocaust, Death Smiles on a Murderer, and Flying Sex). It was produced by Gianfranco Couyoumdjian (Zombie, Zombie Holocaust, The Last Hunter, and Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals). This was inspired by The French Woman. Emanuelle (played by: Laura Gemser from Emanuelle franchise, Deep Blood, Erotic Nights of the Living Dead, and Endgame) is in Kenya to arrange an interview with the Italian American gangster George Rivetti (played by: Venantino Venantini from 22 Bullets, Ladyhawke, Warriors of the Wasteland, and The Exterminators of the Year 3000).

She succeeds in meeting him with help from her friend Susan Towers (played by: Ely Galleani from The Devil Is a Woman, Baba Yaga, and A Lizard in a Woman’s Skin) but is intrigued by other events, leading her to meet the white slave trader Francis Harley (played by: Gabriele Tinti from Cut and Run, The Crawlers, EndGame, Emanuelle franchise, and The House of Exorcism), and setting her up for a dangerous undercover operation at the San Diego mansion of Madame Claude (played by: Gota Gobert from Private House of the SS, Nazi Love Camp 27, Women’s Camp 119, and Emanuelle in America), which functions as a brothel for top-level dignitaries and civil servants. She becomes a prostitute in Madame Claude’s clandestine San Diego bordello, engaging in all manner of carnal couplings while secretly working to bring down the Madame’s evil empire!!!!

Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade is one of sleaze king Joe D’Amato’s better and more polished features in his career. This is also one of the best films in the Emanuelle franchise which pumped out lots of movies during this time. This one has a little bit of everything in it. Laura Gemser is one of my all time favorite cinematic eye candies and she looks amazing here. She was never shy and this one is no different. Emanuelle and the White Slave Trade is loaded with all kinds of supporting talent featuring a variety of familiar faces from other known features. It has slick cinematography, beautiful locations, a quality score, and excellent production design. This a fun spy and sex flick from the late 70’s. This is one of the better European Cult home video releases from Full Moon recently, RECOMMENDED!!!!

Let’s talk about the high definition presentation from Full Moon Features! This 1080p (1.85:1) uncut transfer is a huge upgrade compared to past home video releases which included some questionable bootlegs from the black market back in the day. It features a few different audio options which includes English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo and 5.1 Surround on the disc. It’s solid, definitely better than what was offered before when it came to this movie. All of the dialogue is clean, the spy thrills are elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has Trailers for Barbed Wire Dolls, Love Letters of a Portuguese Nun, Naked Girl Murdered in the Park, Satanic Sisters, Voodoo Passion, and Women in Cell Block 9. It’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
