Decadent Evil II Blu Ray Review (Full Moon Features)

Decadent Evil II is a 2007 direct to video horror film directed by Charles Band (Decadent Evil, Parasite, Metalstorm, The Dungeonmaster, Meridian, Skull Heads, Ooga Booga, Unlucky Charms, and The Dead Want Women). It was written by Domonic Muir (Decadent Evil, Skull Heads, Unlucky Charms, Petrified, DevilDolls, Dangerous Worry Dolls, and Killer Eye: Halloween Haunt) under the alias “August White”. It was executive produced by Dana K. Harrloe (The Gingerdead Man franchise, Evil Bong franchise, Petrified, Dangerous Worry Dolls, and Cutter’s Club). It’s a direct sequel to 2005’s Decadent Evil. After surviving their encounter with the Queen Vampire Morella, sweet vampire Sugar (played by: Jill Michelle from Decadent Evil, Erotic Secrets, Murder-Set-Pieces, and The West Wing) and her human boyfriend Dex (played by: Daniel Lennox from Decadent Evil, The Black Magic, FreakyLinks, and Welcome to California) travel with Marvin the homunculus to Little Rock, Arkansas. Their plan: to revive Marvin’s dead son, the world’s smallest vampire hunter, 3-foot-tall Ivan Burroughs (played by: Ricardo Gill from Epic Movie, Gingerdead Man 2, Grunt! The Wrestling Movie, and Snow White) with the life-giving blood of the King Vampire. Soon, Sugar and Dex are drawn into a coven of the wicked creatures that are using a local strip club as cover. Will our heroes be victorious? Or will they succumb to the vile allure of this new strain of “decadent evil”???? Director Charles Band returns to the Decadent Evil universe with this ambitious follow up. It has the same writer Domonic Muir plus it brings back both Jill Michelle as Sugar and Daniel Lennox as Dex. Lead actress Jill Michelle really shines in this sequel as the friendly vampire that’s trying to stop the ruthless members of her own community. She still looks stunning so she provides more eye candy to this low budget horror franchise. She’s one of the main reasons to check this out. Daniel Lennox is basically exactly the same as he was in the first film as the human that’s caught up in this supernatural environment. Unfortunately for some reason, Phil Fondacaro is replaced by Ricardo Gill as the dedicated vampire slayer. That’s definitely a downgrade compared to the original. He is still decent in the role but it doesn’t feel the same at all so it loses some momentum. The rest of the supporting cast includes Lillie Nyx, Jon-Paul Gates (100 Bullets), James C. Burns (Prison Break: Proof of Innocence), Jessica Morris (The Pitt), Mike Muscat (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Rory Williamson (Underbelly), and Gia Paloma (School of Porn). Once again, Decadent Evil II gives the audience that similar vampires and strippers combination from before. It’s all about that sexy club atmosphere and it sticks to that main location. It’s a fun vibe plus it has all kinds of rock music for it’s soundtrack. The amount of violence, sleaze, gore, and nudity is toned down a little compared to the other one. Decadent Evil II tries it’s best as an extension of the original but it mainly feels almost like a remake on a smaller level. Decadent Evil II is decent but it honestly makes the viewer appreciate the 2005 one even more. It really pushes comedy and campy feeling more than actual horror. It truly embraces it’s over the top and live action cartoon approach. It does have interesting surprises thrown in the mix and twists for the finish which is a nice addition. It’s currently streaming on Fawesome and Amazon Prime if you are curious about it. If you enjoyed Decadent Evil then you’ll most likely appreciate this!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation and special features from Full Moon Features! This 1080p (1.78:1) unrated transfer is from a newer restoration from the original camera negative. It’s a solid improvement compared to the original DVD home video release. It takes advantage of it’s sexy and sleazy atmosphere when it comes to the sharp visuals. It has various audio options which includes English: Dolby Digital 5.1 and English: Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks on the disc. It’s all about it’s house band at the strip club and their rocking soundtrack when it comes to the audio. All of the dialogue is very clean, the tension is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has the almost 16 minute “Behind the Scenes”. It has interviews with multiple people involved with Decadent Evil II. Charles Band explains why he took this sequel to Little Rock after doing one of his Road Shows. He found quality locations for a lower price around here. He says that he wants to come back for more projects. A few different people show their appreciation for Band and his creative vision for this independent production. They joke about the small time environment. They go over their experiences on this. It has the almost 43 minute “Battle of the Bands”. Charles Band tells a story for the beginning. Various bands give their shot at being in this film. Robin Sydney interviews various people at the local event in Little Rock. It has the little over 8 minute “Visions Auditions” from 2007. This featurette has a good amount of nudity. All kinds of women try to get a role in Decadent Evil II while trying to show off their stripper skills and overall presence in front of the camera. It has the “Original Trailer” for Decadent Evil II. It has a variety of 5 Full Moon Features related “Trailers”. It was originally a Black Friday exclusive but it’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
