Death Streamer Blu Ray Review (Full Moon Features)

Death Streamer is a 2024 independent horror film produced, story, and directed by Charles Band (Quadrant, Trancers franchise, Puppet Master franchise, Doctor Mordrid, Head of the Family, Hideous!, Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn, Parasite, The Dungeonmaster, Meridian, The Creeps, Evil Bong franchise, Gingerdead Man franchise, and Blood Dolls). It was written by Neil Marshall Stevens (Thir13en Ghosts, Monsters, Hellraiser: Deader, Super Hybrid, Head of the Family, Hideous!, The Creeps, Trophy Heads, and Curse of the Puppet Master) as “Roger Barron”. It was produced by Danny Draven (Quadrant, Ragdoll, The Haunted Casino, Trophy Heads, Puppet Master: Doktor Death, Demonic Toys franchise, Subspecies V: Bloodrise, Trancers: City of Lost Angels, and Sideshow) and 19 others. It’s the 2nd entry from the brand new Pulp Noir sub-label from Full Moon Features. An old school vampire Arturo Valenor (played by: Sean Ohlman from Chicago P.D.) uses modern day technologically advanced glasses to hunt his unlucky victims and he streams his murderous acts during his live stream for all his select followers to experience his bloody feast. His personality gets bigger as his videos start going viral for his private community. A group of ambitious supernatural investigators which includes Alex (played by: Aaron McDaniel from A Crime to Remember), Edwina (played by: Emma Massalone from Yellowstone), and Juniper (played by: Kaitlin Moore from Batman Unburied) call out the “Death Streamer” and the vicious bloodsucker decides to hunt them down after they share his videos everywhere for even more to see!!!! Cult director Charles Band has been shooting more features lately rather than just producing which is nice to see. This is the newest production from the newer Pulp Noir sub-label from Full Moon Features. Band is very smart and creative while working with a very low budget. He makes sure to stick to a few limited locations in Death Streamer and it looks great for what they have to work with. The script focuses on a popular but very private extreme live stream where it shows a vampire taking advantage and killing his victims live for his following to enjoy. A smaller group of online personalities discover this disturbing feed and they decide to share it publicly which ends up going viral which pisses off the brutal vampire so he wants revenge. The leads are played by Aaron McDaniel, Emma Massalone, and Kaitlin Moore. They want to get bigger but they continue to fight over petty situations which messes with their creativity. They try to expose this danger to the world online but it backfires on them. Sean Ohlman as Arturo Valenor is solid as the villain in this. He is just enjoying his cult following that he controls who can actually experience his madness. He doesn’t like this little supernatural online group that’s causing problems for his secretive life. The rest of the supporting cast includes Chili Jean, Travis Stoner (Night of the Living Dead), Llana Barron (Izzy Lyon: The Unspun Truth), Maddy May (The Night Invites), Piper Parks (Check, Please! The Web Series), Angel R. Reed (Judas and the Black Messiah), Ashley Lanese (Ascension), and Halle Hubre (Curse of the Re-Animator). There’s all kinds of beautiful women in Death Streamer and almost all of them get naked in this. This independent feature doesn’t back down when it comes to nudity. One of the only flaws is that it focuses on the leads online show “Church of Chills” a little too much at times and honestly nothing really happens with it so it does drag a little bit. There’s a decent amount of violence, kills, and gore when it comes to the evil Arturo Valenor character. I enjoyed the old school practical fx but there’s some really bloody moments where they used visual fx that didn’t look that good. Luckily, it wasn’t done that much during this smaller movie. Regardless, Death Streamer was actually solid plus it’s pretty short so it goes by fast. It’s a modern take on the vampire sub-genre. It was entertaining and fun for the most part. This 1080p unrated (2.00:1) transfer looks better than expected especially for having no budget. It uses it’s few main locations wisely and it has stylish cinematography which shines here. It has a few different audio options which includes English: Dolby Digital 5.1 and English: Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks on the disc. The audio is solid, it has its moments in this. All of the dialogue is very clean, the bloodsucking is elevated, and the music has a good boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has the little over 25 minute “Videozone”. It has interviews with the cast and crew. It’s an inside behind the scenes look into the independent production with some exclusive footage. It shows some earlier auditions from it. It has the almost 10 minute “Death Streamer – Los Angeles Premiere”. It shows the cast and crew at it’s big screening. Actresses Barbara Crampton and Robin Sydney make cameos at the event. Director Charles Band does a speech before the feature is shown. He brings up the church location that he bought that was used here and he chats about upcoming plans for events there. It has the “Trailer” for Death Streamer. It has a variety of Full Moon Features “Trailers” which includes Quadrant, Bad CGI Gator, Subspecies 5, Aimee: The Visitor, and Bring Her to Me.
