Day Zero Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)

Day Zero is a 2022 horror film edited and directed by Joey De Guzman (The Ghosting and Gen Z). It was written by Ays De Guzman (Da Possessed, Only You, and The Reunion). It was produced by Erik Matti (On the Job, Buybust, ABCs of Death 2, and Rabid). It was shot in the Philippines. When society starts to breaks down due to a violent outbreak that turns victims into undead monsters, a former elite soldier known as Emon (played by: professional fighter Brandon Vera from Buybust and Kamandag) is forced to break out of jail to find and save his family before it’s too late!!!!There’s something different about Asian zombie flicks that always make them stand out from the rest & Day Zero is no different. This one has a simple storyline and concept but it works for this. It has a great balance of horror and action here. The special fx were top notch for this lower budget production. It had some brutal kills & I really enjoyed the look of the zombies. As far as acting goes, it’s exactly what you would expect for this type of movie. Fighter Brandon Vera is a bad ass in Day Zero & those undead killers keep him busy throughout everything in this. I didn’t know what to expect with Day Zero but it didn’t disappoint at all. Turn off your brain and just enjoy the entertainment. This one goes by fast and it’s very fun. Well Go has been killing it lately when it comes to these darker films. If you are into Asian cinema, Horror, Zombies, and Action then you need to check this one out ASAP!!!!It’s available everywhere right now. Let’s discuss the high definition presentation and special features from Well Go USA!!!! This 1080p (2.25:1) transfer looks very stylish in HD for this home video release. The special fx really stand out here & the visuals for the action keep your eyes glued to the screen. It has various audio options which includes Filipino (Tagalog): DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and Filipino: Dolby Digital 2.0 on the disc. The audio is real solid here especially when it comes to the horror and action. I do wish it had an English dub to go with it. It has English SDH subtitles. The only extras on the home video release is a variety of “Trailers” from Well Go USA. It has a nice slipcover that included. Add this one to the collection especially with Well Go’s amazing retail prices. This is available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
