DarkGame Blu Ray Review (Gravitas Ventures)

DarkGame is a 2024 horror film directed by Howard J. Ford (Escape, The Ledge, The Lockdown Hauntings, The Dead 1/2, Never Let Go, and Mainline Run). It was written by Tom George (Brief Encounters and Enemy Lines), Gary Grant (Lost), and Niall Johnson (Another Life of Day, The Stolen, and White Noise). It grossed $212,275 worldwide at the box office. The brutal killings won’t stop and each one gets more extreme as time goes on. Detective Ben (played by: Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl, Freaks of Nature, Children of Men, S. Darko, Snatch, and J. Edgar) is challenged by a blood thirsty psychopath known as The Presenter (played by: Andrew P Stephen from Silo, Block, and Suspect). The attention crazed lunatic puts together his own twisted version of a game show on dark web where his various victims fight for their survival before meeting a gruesome death. Can Ben save them before it’s all too late???? DarkGame resurrects the torture porn sub-genre after a decent absence from it. Don’t expect Saw or Hostel here, it’s honestly nothing new when it comes to the concept either but it’s still solid fun. Lead actor Ed Westwick has been doing these independent horror features lately which is cool to see. He carries this smaller movie and his fanbase will be happy with this one. Andrew P Stephen actually is better than expected as the villain. He’s the best thing about this. This low budget film has good special fx and production design for what it is. It has some moments that horror fans will appreciate. The tension, suspense, and thrills drive this one. It’s worth checking out at least once, I’ve always enjoyed similar stuff to this and it actually has a cool killer. It’s entertaining and it does have some replay value to it. Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Gravitas Ventures! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer is impressive especially for it’s lower budget. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the torture has a killer boost, and the music is elevated here. It has English SDH subtitles. There’s no extras on this M.O.D (Professional BD-R) home video release. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
