Dangerous Waters Blu Ray Review (Brainstorm Media)

Dangerous Waters is a 2023 thriller written, shot, and directed by John Barr (Blood and Money). It was co-written by Mark Jackson (This Teacher, War Story, and Without). It was produced by Patrick Fischer (ABCs of Death 2, Piggy, Tiger House, Under the Shadow, The Recall, and SAS: Red Notice). This is actor Ray Liotta’s last performance before he passed away. It grossed $332,695 worldwide at the box office. Rose (played by: Odeya Rush from Umma, Lady Bird, We Are What We Are, The Giver, and Goosebumps) doesn’t really trust her mother Alma’s (played by: Saffron Burrows from You, My Own Worst Enemy, Boston Legal, Reign Over Me, Troy, Deep Blue Sea, and Gangster No. 1) new relationship with Derek Stipes (played by: Eric Dane from Grey’s Anatomy, Helter Skelter, Feast, X-Men: The Last Stand, Open Water 2 and The Last Ship). He tries to earn some bonus points with her by taking the two on a boating trip. They are attacked by outsiders. Something doesn’t seem right after the intrusion. Rose must learn to survive this nightmare and protect herself. What will happen next???? Dangerous Waters has a way better cast than you would expect for something with such a small budget. Odeya Rush is a solid lead here and she’s always quality eye candy. Her role is tough and she’s a fighter matter what in Dangerous Waters. She is one of the bright spots about this. It’s nice to see veteran actress Saffron Burrows in something more recent plus she still looks great for her age. Both of have have good chemistry as daughter and mother. Eric Dane comes off mysterious and his character goes through a lot during the running time. Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, Phoenix, Narc, Smokin Aces, Cocaine Bear, Field of Dreams, Hannibal, and Cop Land) only has a small role but he’s my personal favorite thing about this production. He always put on a great performance as a villain and he ends his career playing one here. Dangerous Waters could use some editing help for it’s pace and flow, it’s about 10 minutes too long to be honest. I wish this would have been Rated R rather than PG-13. It feels a little watered down at times, no pun intended. This thriller could have been more consistent but it has it’s moments. It’s currently streaming on Hulu so give it a shot. Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Brainstorm Media! This 1080p (2.35:1) transfer looks fantastic and the locations shine here. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track which is great. All of the dialogue is very clean, the suspense is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. There’s no extras on this M.O.D (Professional BD-R) home video release. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
