Chaos A.D. Blu Ray Review (SRS Cinema)

Chaos A.D. is a 2016 horror film written, produced, shot, edited, casted, and directed by Chris Woods (Blood, Guts and Sunshine 2: The History of Horror Made in Florida, Taste Me: Death-Scort Service Part 3, Amerikan Holokaust, Make Them Die Sleazy!, and Chameleon). It was edited, casted, makeup, and produced by Sean Donohue (Blood, Guts and Sunshine, Death-Scort Service franchise, Swamp Woman, Hobocop, Zed’s Dead, Cannibal Claus, Naked Cannibal Campers, and Fatal Desires). It had an estimated budget of $4,000. Set on Halloween night, it follows an abused housewife Janet Loomis (played by: Ashley Lynn Caputo from American Guinea Pig: Bouquet of Guts and Gore, Cannibal Claus, I Dared You! Truth or Dare Part 5, Death-Scort Service franchise, and The Hart-Break Killer) with a deadly secret, a corrupt politician Jack Foley (played by: David A. Jackson from Halloween Kills, Ride Along, and Die Die Delta Pi), and a pair of siblings Sarah Russo (played by: Lisa Marie Kart from Death-Scort Service, The Hospital 2, and Cannibal Claus) and Vinnie Russo (played by: Eric Danger Dionne from Cannibal Claus, Clownado, WrestleMassacre, and Kill-Cam) scarred by years of domestic trauma. Each is lured or abducted into a grimy, hellish warehouse. It’s where a sadistic crew of psychopaths led by the malevolent Bytch (played by: Cayt Feinics from American Guinea Pig: Bouquet of Guts and Gore, Death-Scort Service franchise, Zed’s Dead, Naked Cannibal Campers, Cannibal Claus, and Lycanimator) with her bloodthirsty gang which includes Vixen (played by: Amanda Welch from Death-Scort Service, Cannibal Claus, and Millennials: The Musical), Lilith (played by: Paula Tsurara from Death-Scort Service, Taste Me: Death-Scort Service Part 3, and Cannibal Claus), Misery (played by: Saharra Huxly from Femdom Empire and Batwoman), and the unhinged Uncle Lester (played by: Bob Glazier from Amerikan Holokaust, Death-Scort Service franchise, Cannibal Claus, Hobocop, and Make Them Die Sleazy!) unleash an evening of torment, degradation, and grotesque retribution. They turn the lair into a chamber of unholy chaos. What follows is an all-out assault on the senses that’s part revenge fantasy, part exploitation, and all blood-soaked insanity!!!! Chaos A.D. is pure extreme horror from Florida. It’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets Saw. Director Chris Woods doesn’t hold on anything when it comes to this gorefest. It follows various strangers that end up in the same awful situation together. It’s a nice range of different characters in this. Lead actress Lisa Marie Kart looks great as the broken Sarah Russo in this. She’s just trying to get away from her chaotic life for a night so she goes to a Halloween party. I wasn’t the biggest fan of her when it came to the torture scenes. She tried too hard when suffering on the screen and it kinda took away from everything. I think Chaos A.D..would have been much better with someone else in this role to be honest but she had some solid moments here regardless. Scream Queen Cayt Feinics steals the show as the disturbed Bytch. She’s great as the one that sets up these torture games with her victims. She’s ruthless, she will push past the limits every time for everyone’s sick entertainment. Scream Queen Ashley Lynn Caputo is surprising as the mysterious housewife Janet Loomis. She gets a wild introduction that leaves her unpredictable. She looks nice and normal but she has a mean streak that no one knows about. Exploitation veteran Bob Glazier shows up as the sleazy Uncle Lester. He’s the wildcard when it comes to this demented group. He’s kinda in the background at first but when it all comes apart, he’s a deadly threat. He takes advantage of his slaves and he enjoys playing with them. Bob Glazier is never shy either, I’ve seen him full frontal way too many times in various Sleaze Box productions over the years. Cult actor Joel D. Wynkoop (Truth or Dare? franchise, Creep, Lost Faith, Killing Spree, Dirty Cop franchise, Death-Scort Service franchise, Make Them Die Sleazy!, and Post Mortem America 2021) has a nice cameo as Mr. Friedman. I won’t say too much about his character because I don’t want to spoil anything but I wish he had a bigger part because it was one of the best roles in this. The rest of the cast includes David A. Jackson, Paula Tsurara, Saharra Huxly, Eric Danger Dionne, Amanda Welch, Krystal Pixie Adams (Death-Scort Service franchise), Joe Makowski (Zed’s Dead), Gustavo Perez (Any Given Sunday), M. Catherine Wynkoop (Dirty Cop No Donut), Sean Donohue (Pandemic Thirst), Racheal Shaw (Death-Scort Service), and Angie McNish (Taste Me: Death-Scort Service Part 3). Chris Wood is all about equal opportunity when it comes to his sleaze. Both male and female get nude in Chaos A.D. for it’s lunacy. It’s full of unlikable characters so it makes it easier to root for their demise. It has a solid body count with plenty of creative kills, violence, and non stop gore. It takes torture porn to a whole another level. The special fx are way better than expected here. It has that throwback vibe to it. It feels like something made during the 80’s. It has a solid build up to each main character, it hits the audience out of nowhere when it becomes much darker. It keeps itself suspensful, tense, and thrilling for it’s gruesome finale. This had potential for possible spin-offs but nothing ever happened with it. It’s one of the best productions from The Sleaze Box and Chris Woods, RECOMMENDED!!!! Let’s discuss this high definition presentation and special features from SRS Cinema! This 1080p uncensored (1.85:1) transfer makes it’s return to home video on Blu Ray. The gritty production design and nasty special fx shine the most when it comes to the visuals. It has an English: Dolby Digital 5.1 track on the disc. The brutal scenarios and soundtrack pop out the most for the audio here. The score reminds me of a mix between John Carpenter and Troma. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the chaos is elevated, and the music has nice boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has multiple “Trailers” for Chaos A.D. and various SRS Cinema related “Trailers”. It has 3 “Deleted Scenes” that are a little over a minute. It has the almost 62 minute “Behind the Scenes” directed by Sean Donohue. It’s a detailed inside look into the pre-production plus filming of Chaos A.D. with Chris Woods and Sean Donohue. It features all of the main cast and crew members in this. It has everything from storyboards, cast readings, makeup, and putting together this low budget extreme horror production. It’s a fun fly on the wall type of piece. It shows what it takes to make your own independent effort. It has the almost 2 minute “Interview” with director Chris Woods. Chaos A.D. was originally written in 1995 under the title Freakshow. The final title was inspired by the Sepultura album. Woods teases a possible sequel or remake towards the end. It has the little over 20 minute “Photo Gallery”. It’s available everywhere right now, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
