Born to Fly Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)

Born to Fly (aKa Chang kong zhi wang) is a 2023 action film written and directed by Xiaoshi Liu. It was co-written by Guan Gui (Silence of Smoke). It was nominated for 20 different awards and won a variety of 12 prestigious awards including the Golden Rooster. It grossed $501,585 worldwide at the box office. After an unforeseen threat arises mid-air, a talented but cocky young air force test pilot Lei Yu (played by: Wang Yibo from Uniq, The Untamed, Hidden Blade, War of Faith, Being a Hero, Hank your Heart, and Luoyang) is forced to test the capabilities of his top-secret aircraft for his special operations unit. He starts to fall for doctor Shen Tianran (played by: Dongyu Zhou from Us and Them, Better Days, Soulmate, New World, and Kung Fu Monster). He keeps focused on his work by competing with his rival Deng Fang (played by: Yosh Yu from Pegasus 2 and Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms) for the top spot. Now he must rise to the challenge using his own physical and psychological limits, in order to survive these dangerous surroundings!!!! You can tell Top Gun had a huge influence on this and considering the recent sequel did amazing at the box office so China took advantage of it with Born to Fly. Lead actor Wang Yibo is a very popular rapper, singer, and dancer overseas. He took that fame and he has kept busy with acting over the years with a variety of television shows and movies. Yibo is definitely improving when it comes to his craft, this is one of his better performances. The supporting cast really boosts the production. It has some quality action, production design, and fx. Born to Fly is fun and entertaining, don’t take it serious and enjoy the ride. I enjoy this sub-genre and it’s nice to see some more options out there for it. Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Well Go USA! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer is very impressive. The locations, production design, and fx shine when it comes to the visuals. This Mandarin: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is just as good as the picture quality. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the action is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. It has English, Mandarin (Simplified), and Mandarin (Traditional) subtitles. “Trailers” are the only extras on the disc. It comes with a slipcover.
