Baby Oopsie 2: Murder Dolls Blu Ray Review (Full Moon Features)
Baby Oopsie 2: Murder Dolls is a 2022 horror film written, produced, production design, and directed by William Butler (Madhouse, Furnace, Demonic Toys: Personal Demons, Gingerdead Man 3, and The Resonator series). It was produced by the legendary Charles Band (The Puppet Master franchise, Trancers franchise, Ghoulies, Troll, Dolls, From Beyond, Demonic Toys franchise, TerrorVision, Castle Freak, and Intruder). Baby Oopsie is a spin off from the Demonic Toys universe. It originally premiered on Full Moon’s streaming before hitting home video, It was a sequel to the first one and followed up by Burn Baby Burn!!!!The bloodthirsty baby is BACK! Sybil makes a deal with the deal to get her dolls available worldwide. After being possessed by the powers of darkness and enabling Baby Oopsie’s grisly killing spree, Sybil (played by: comedian Libbie Higgins from Baby Oopsie, Baby Oopsie 3: Burn Baby Burn, and Weedjies: Halloweed Night) snaps to her senses and vows to save her demon-possessed friend Ray-Ray (played by: Justin Armistead from Baby Oopsie and Baby Oopsie 3: Burn Baby Burn) while doing battle with two new tiny terrors hellbent on opening the gates of Toy Hell!!!!
Demonic Toys spin off is back and it’s spawned a sequel! This features one of the main killer dolls from those iconic horror features from back in the day. Former horror actor William Butler (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood, Night of the Living Dead, Ghoulies II, and Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III) has been behind the camera for awhile now. His first few films were pretty damn good and he’s the reason this silly horror comedy ends up being so much fun. He’s been working with Full Moon Features since his acting days plus he helped produce, production design, and he even did some spiecial fx on older productions (From Beyond, Cellar Dweller, Catacombs, Transformations, and Spellcaster). The main character Sybil has really changed in this one. This sequel tries to be a little different and it’s an interesting continuation to the series. I love the practical fx on Murder Dolls reminds me of those older horror flicks, it has a good amount of gore and it some interesting kills especially the opening scene. It’s no shocker that the dolls look great here considering that’s the main thing Full Moon has been known for all these years. Baby Oopsie 2 has an odd cast and it’s definitely not your typical actors which makes it different from other horror material out there right now. I’ve never heard of Libbie Higgins and Justin Armistead before these films but I noticed both of them are very popular online so they have big followings. This explains why the Baby Oopsie series and films are treading above the other horror shorts that Full Moon has been putting out lately. This is a short feature so it’s an easy viewing and it definitely holds your attention the entire time. It’s a solid entry into the killer toy/doll sub-genre. Not as good as the original but it’s a decent follow up!!!!
Let’s talk about the high definition presentation and special features from Full Moon! This 1080p (1.78:1) looks great especially for such a low budget production. It has a few audio options which includes English: Dolby Digital 5.1 and English: Dolby Digital 2.0 on this all region disc. All of the dialogue is crystal clear, the toy terror is elevated, and the music has a killer boost to it. “Bringing Up Baby Oopsie” is almost 34 minutes. It’s kinda a shorten version of the feature showcasing some of the best scenes from the original and this follow up. It has a variety of “Full Moon” trailers on it. It’s available for purchase at Full Moon Direct plus it’s on their streaming service, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
