Amityville Bigfoot DVD Review (SRS Cinema)

Amityville Bigfoot is a 2024 horror comedy film co-written and directed by Shawn C. Philips (Amityville Karen, Amityville Shark House, 60 Seconds to Die franchise, and Woods Witch). It was co-written Julie Anne Prescott (Amityville Karen, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville Shark House, and Amityville Turkey Day). It was produced by Ron Bonk (Amityville VR, Amityville Backrooms, Amityville Ripper, Amityville Thanksgiving, Amityville Turkey Day, Amityville Shark House, Amityville Karen, Amityville Death Toilet, and Amityville AI) and 63 others. The budget was only around $20,000. A variety of different people which includes birdwatchers, activists, scientists, and a low budget film crew accidentally step into Bigfoot’s dangerous neck of the woods, where something even more evil lurks in the same location. Can they survive both of these disasters in one night???? Amityville Bigfoot grabbed my attention by mixing the Bigfoot monster and the Amityville Horror concept. I’m not going to lie, I went into this with very low expectations but it was better than I thought it would be. The script is all over the place but it had some hilarious moments, most were unintentional but it added to it’s charm. It took all kinds of cliches in the horror sub-genre and put them all together. The special fx, interesting murders, and the low budget gore was actually solid. I wasn’t expecting a slasher at all but it basically turned into one. The body count is decent in this. Most of the groups here were very annoying so you couldn’t wait for them all to get slaughtered. Veteran actors Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight), Tuesday Knight (A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master), and Trent Haaga (Terror Firmer) show up in smaller cameos in this. The rest of the supporting cast includes Lorelei Linklater (Boyhood), Lauren Francesca (Amityville Karen), Shawn C. Phillips (Amityville Webcam), Ashleeann Cittell (Amityville Karen), Aric Garcia (Amityville Shark House), Bryant Smith (Amityville Karen), Crystal J. Huang (Shameless), Samuel Ali (Fear the Walking Dead), Sephdok Ramone (Arena Wars), Jake Pearlman (Woods Witch), Marc Pearce (Amityville Thanksgiving), Auzi Capri (Amityville Shark House), Brian Bell (Straight Outta Compton), Brandon Krum (Wolf Hollow), Mark Schaefer (Amityville Apt.), G. Larry Butler (The Hospital), Kyle Clarington (Detroit 1-8-7), David Perry (Amityville Turkey Day), Elizabeth Noelle Japhet (Death Count), Ryan Stockstad (Scrubs), and Craig Sapenoff (Terrifier 2). Amityville Bigfoot knows it’s a bad movie and it doesn’t shy away from it. It’s probably about 10 minutes too long but it ends up being somewhat fun and entertaining with it’s over the top live action cartoon atmosphere. Just go into with no expectations, you might enjoy it a little more than expected. It’s currently streaming on Tubi right now if you are curious about it. Let’s discuss the special features from SRS Cinema on this DVD! It has an “Audio Commentary” with director Shawn C. Phillips. He provides all kinds of information and behind the scenes stories for the low budget production. He mentions that he had a multiple picture deal with SRS Cinema and this was one of the projects. It was shot at the same location as I Spit on Your Grave: Deja Vu. He brings up they had issues with neighbors when it came to being loud at night so they did most of the important scenes during the day to avoid all that drama. It has almost 17 minutes of “Behind the Scenes” from Kenneth Ramone. The blogger posted a variety of videos when he came to the set for a cameo in this. It has a “Trailer” for Amityville Bigfoot.
