Affinity Blu Ray Review (Well Go USA)
Affinity is a 2025 action film directed by Brandon Slagle (Arena Wars, The Flood, Frost, The Dark Avengers, Subject 87, Song of the Shattered, Vivid, House of Manson, Dead Sea, Escape from Ensenada, Crossbreed, The Dawn, and Breakout). It was written by Gina Aguad, Christopher M. Don (Minutes to Midnight, Restricted Area, and Witch Trials), and Liam O’Neil (Ingobernable). It was co-written, action/fight directed, and executive produced by lead actor Marko Zaror (Chinango, Kiltro, Redeemer, Mandrill, The Fist of the Condor, Rey Del Ring, and Mirageman). It was produced by Daniel Zirilli (Winner Takes All, Hellhound, Invincible, End of a Gun, Shark Lake, Circle of Pain, Locked Down, and Shark Island). Bruno (played by: Marko Zaror from John Wick: Chapter 4, The Killer’s Game, Alita: Battle Angel, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, Machete Kills, Undisputed 3: Redemption, and Fight or Flight) is an ex-SEAL struggling with severe PTSD. He is tortured by his past demons until one day when he discovers a beautiful woman Athena (played by: Jane Mirro) with no memory or any past of her own. Together they begin to build a life, but when she disappears out of nowhere. Bruno must return to his violent past if he’s going to save her from a shocking conspiracy that could destroy everyone involved!!!!
Affinity is a fun independent action and revenge feature. Horror veteran director Brandon Slagle delivers an interesting take on the action sub-genre and it’s about the past haunting Bruno but it can also help him in the worst possible situations. Lead actor Marko Zaror is mainly known for his supporting and smaller roles in bigger projects. He’s great as the conflicted Bruno. He has a dangerous history and he’s just trying to live a normal life at this point. He is finally happy with everything and it’s all taken away from him. He gets help from his former team and he is forced to use his brutal skills once again. He also co-wrote, directed action, directed fights, and he executive produced this low budget production. Newcomer Jane Mirro is solid as the mysterious Athena. Her character kinda keeps you guessing and when it’s all revealed, it all makes much more sense. She’s looks great in this and I always enjoy seeing unknowns because it feels more organic for stuff like this. Character actor Louis Mandylor (Necessary Roughness, The Quest, Mafia!, My Big Fat Greek Wedding franchise, Friends, Rambo: Last Blood, and Martial Law) is very impressive as the fearless Joe. He’s the wise cracking co-worker that always pushes Bruno to give his new reality a chance. He is from the same background and he has own violent memories. Brooke Ence (Wonder Woman, Justice League, and Black Lightning) as Fitch is the brains and high tech support from the group. She is fierce and she puts herself on the line for her friends. The supporting cast includes Brahim Chab (Monkey Man), Ego Mikitas (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Tofan Pirani (Bang), Elliott Allison (Bang), Jonathan Samson (The Murderer), and Andrey Kasushkin (Bet Dead Casino). Affinity starts out as a drama with some romance thrown in. When all hell breaks loose, it’s packed with plenty of violence and action. It doesn’t shy away from gore and some nasty scenarios during it’s finale. It has high quality fight choreography and stunts especially what they had to work with here. Tough guy Marko Zaror rarely gets to be the main character so it’s a refreshing change from most of his other movies. He proves he can hold own if given the right material. I had no expectations going into Affinity but it ending up being a total blast. The character development takes a little but it keeps itself very entertaining and fun for the most part. I feel like this would have done great in the 80’s, it has that similar atmosphere. It has some solid replay value to it, RECOMMENDED!!!!
Let’s discuss this high definition presentation from Well Go USA! This 1080p (2.39:1) transfer looks much bigger than it’s smaller budget. The locations and production design shines the most when it comes to the sharp visuals. It has an English: DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 and English: DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 tracks on the disc. The audio really stands out when it comes to it’s action and violence. All of the dialogue is very clean, the revenge is elevated, and the music has a nice boost to it. It has English SDH subtitles. It has the “Trailer” for Affinity and various Well Go USA related “Trailers”. It’s a professionally made on demand BD-R. It’s available everywhere right now including MovieZyng.com, CHECK IT OUT!!!!
